by me just looking at it, it just seems like this really big deal but then I think about it and it is in fact just a fan website. But thinking about submitting to them is almost like submitting to a hot shot publisher. gah me brains hurt. are you the launching ground for epic things or are you not?
I rarely visit ED, I prefer to stick to my small, backwater sites (relatively, of course) where I can look at stuff that people I know a little better made.
I think EQD is a fine site, it was the first brony site I actually started visiting regularly, still do. Is it perfect? nah, but its decent enough for what it is. As for complaints with it, as I never really submit anything to them, I don't have any, but I do here some people that submit fanfics fan works, news or whatnot to them get abit mad at times for some reason.
I visit EQD rather often, it's a fan site. Nothing more, nothing less. I also visit DHN, and Equestria Gaming too for other news.
I don't visit it regularly, I mainly used to visit it for links to the new episodes. If I'm bored, then I'll spend some more time on it. As for compaints, it seems to be alright. I have no problem with it.
It's a good place to find art, music, and comics. I use it a lot, but I've heard it can be a pain to get your stuff on there. I remember when we, as in the radio staff, had a bit of trouble trying to get us in a post.
My friend managed to get his fanfic on EqD a few months ago. Although now that the fandom is growing, it's getting harder to get mentioned. Unless you're one of the "famous" bronies.
Not many ponies care about the fan-made stuff that isn't famous, which I find upsetting. For something that is meant to 'reward' the hard-working bronies, it sure makes the ones who struggle to do those things very uncertain about their levels of talent. I mean, come on, everypony trying to make a name for themself is fighting to get on EqD which shouldn't be the case. Also, it lags out my laptop something rotten on every page.
I think it's a great site, especially since it's where I get my pony news. And the fact that the fanfic section isn't filled with "Human in equestria" fics helps, unlike Fimfiction.....
I used it for all my pony news and to look at some of the art. I don't do fan content very often, so submitting has never been a problem for me. But I will say they don't have good standards for the drawfriends. Terrible anatomy on some and barely marked 'saucy' R34.
Saucy pics aren't R34. Least not the ones i've clicked on. But yeah some of the fan art is abit lazy at times, overall though I find their drawifieds quite enjoyable, can get some pretty nice wallpapers from em, where I found my DJ-PON3/Soundwave pic. And a few others.
Poetic you forget things like Jackle, mic, JJ, tomb and various other artist. They get stuff posted on EQD a lot. I'd like to see my art show up on EQD, that'd be amazing. Though I never submit my own stuff and I doubt anyone else does, so it'll never happen. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
Because don't see my stuff as anything worth getting on their. Now if it shows up and I didn't submit it that means someone somewhere thought it was that good. I draw for fun, not fame, but fame would be cool. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
And I'll be seen if people like it. If someone likes it they show their friends. Maybe that friend posts it in a forum. More people like it, repeat till famous. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
I agree. Publicity is only part of becoming famous; in fact, publicity for being bad is not a good thing. You need to be good AND have publicity to be famous. Besides, most famous people didn't start off trying to become famous.
It's a fine site. The only real problem I have is how the pro-readers don't like editing fanfics because they aren't being paid for doing it. let that sink in a bit.
