... Wait. are we comparing movie reviews to science now? and arguing science vs religion? Oh good lord, where do I begin.

    Humans, seriously, oy vey.

But sticking to media, reviews ARE opinions, because even though there are set criteria by which one can judge what they are reviewing, the overall quality or lack there of is all up to how the person doing the review perceives what they watch. Thus the reason one person can give a movie a good review and another a bad review.

Are there movies that a decent chunk of the human race could agree are of poor quality, well yes, the cheesy DTV movies we see on places like sci-fi channel are obviously those types of films, cheesy acting, low budget and what not.

But overall when it comes to media, its primarily subjective, no definite good or bad really, just I like & or dislike this because of reason X & Y.

Opinions are opinions neither right or wrong, they just are.

As I said, I apologize for getting so far off topic. I did, as I said, take the bait.

And yes, once more, I agree with this definition of an opinion wholeheartedly.

Oh no need to apologize, we all get off topic from time to time, why if I had a nickel for every time I....

    But I digress, lol.

Back on topic, I for one find the Brony/Pegasister fanbase to be a rather good one overall, I hope that it can continue down the path of "love & tolerance" it proclaimed in its youth, and that a good amount of great fan art, comics, fics & music continue to clog up the ponynet.

its a teaching technique in informative writing.

You talk about a general universal subject that everypony can understand so that the concept being described is also understood. So that you can elaborate and go into the matter at hand (the matter: reviewing and the semantics of opinion and fact). And then you can make your claim (why reviewers opinions are validated as factual and difference between opinion and fact) and give evidence (through a thought experiment). Then you conclude.

I could have been direct and concise but I knew it would simply go over your head. To my despair... the dumbing down also went over some heads (sad thing is you can't simplify more than that unless you want to lose the original meaning).

    @legion

atheists hate theists because they ignore the evidence of science which no matter what, again and again their theories can be proven.
I side with Atheism because the bible contradicts itself several hundred times (over 1000 to be specific) and theist reference the bible like the ultimate truth (selectively too).

but me being clever (i know someone's gonna jab at me for that-but I'll jus say I'm under the influence of boast busters), I'll bring the above points back on topic.

    Any opinions one has a-

    oh hell with it

    Dear Princess Celestia,
today I teach the responsibility of holding an opinion and the responsibility of speaking yours. An opinion can be a will or desire as well as something spoken in words but unless it has proper reasoning and logical rhyme and rhythm, it will only make way for the ignorance of mankind. And in the name of ignorance many evils occur from this disregard. I hope to find my fellow bronies thinking and holding faith in ourselves to do great things. Not for the fame a somebronies may think (that is what I merely see as an natural occurance of a cultural revolution), but for the progressive thinking involved with the desire to do better and maybe helping the world become so with ourselves. and with love and open mindedness and tolerance to nay-sayers, we might at the very least go in a positive direction.

You are referring to the stereotypical Christian, I hope.

First, please specify exactly which theories Theists refuse to believe that have been conclusively proven. I personally cannot think of any that I have heard of that I disagree with that have substantial evidence to support them.

Second. Please specify where exactly in the Bible these contradictions occur. I am very interested to learn about them, and whether they have ben blown out of proportion just as the Theists blew the Atheists' basic viewpoint out of proportion.

Third, yes, I agree that Theists reference the Bible selectively. But can you say that you, or other atheists, have not referenced science selectively? There are plenty of theories out there that are discredited without any good reason, except that other scientists don't like them. Science is selective too. Heck, humanity is selective. You can't get around it.

ok I'll provide my proof and you provide yours. and you will find that scientists hate the theories because a) lack of evidence or b) it contradicts established sciences and hence "should" be wrong. however if a) is not present. then scientists will concede.

we will take this to PM to save you some embarrassment.

@ceres: Can we stop getting off topic please. Also I fully understand what your saying about reviews, I just don't particularly agree, thats all.

Also, heres a little bit of ol cosmic wisdom for you. Human beings by nature are IMPRERFECT creatures there for nothing they do is perfect, politics, society, religion, science, what have you are all constructs of man, ergo none are perfect. No amount of society & politics will be able to fully control everything, no amount of religion or science will be able to explain everything. People who put to much trust in any of these things are rather silly imo. Political ideologies and religious views change to suite the society, scientific theories and sometimes even "facts" are changed or retracted overtime as new information comes to light.

So basically, the only thing certain in life are death & taxes, everything else is subjective to what you choose to believe and how you choose to live your life. No one is 100% right or 100% wrong. Humans need to stop being so pompous and arguing over such silly things and just learn to just enjoy life.

    Now...getting BACK ON TOPIC.

Bronies/Pegasisters are overall a good bunch, theres a few badeggs/trolls/parasprites/etc. But most seem to be good guys & gals.

that just goes with my whole "responsibility of opinion" thing.

what you say is true complacency is a big cause for selfishness. We technically don't "need" to make it big. I'm just suggesting the idea because we potentially can do epic things and the consequences can only be good an progressive

For me I like it the way we are now we are in the perfect position for everything, if we do every right and lay down the right card we might be able to get more from hasbro like I don't know a My Little Dashie movie or a Bittersweet movie that would be epic but for me I don't really care if we move up I like where I am now.
