Hey, everyone. I announced about a month ago that I might have to step down as the fanfic moderator, but it was just a big maybe at the time. However, I've been slammed by a lot of personal issues that may take me out of state for a while or possibly permanently. I'm just sort of in shock of it all right now. Shoving that aside, we'll need a new story moderator. I'm currently the only one, but it's not particularly demanding. At most, I've received 3 submissions in a day ranging from 900 to 2500 words, with the longest as a 10k submit that I read completely. However, pleasure reading is not required. What you do: -Skim/Read stories to ensure quality and content control. Gore and clop is unacceptable, as is some excessive violence (usually that without a meaningful purpose). -Watch for language. I'm very lenient on this sort of thing personally, but a lot of swearing or suggestive language can be a bit too much. -Grammar, format, etc. We want a story to read comfortably. Walls of text are jarring, especially when something gets quite long. Run-on sentences, etc. I try to never use my own story as an example, but my later chapters feature much better flow and grammar. -Relation to MLP. If it has nothing to do with ponies, it doesn't really belong on this site. -There's more, of course. You can always check the rules. I've done my best in the leniency and offering tips, advice, redirecting to guides and stuff. I enjoy my writing and it takes time to get better. I've been writing for around 8 months and I have improved greatly. It's not instant results. I try to give writers a chance to grow, express themselves, and improve. I have received devastating criticism in the past and that is a horrible way to go about helping someone along. I've always tried my best to word critique constructively without attacking or damaging someone's drive. Anyway, this is a heads up that EP will need a story moderator soon. You'll be in contact with the EP staff constantly, of course, in case you need a second opinion on something or to just have fun or point them to a forum problem and whatnot.
Thanks for the headsup Aynine, you've done a fantastic job and it'll be sad to see you go, but alas... If anyone is interested in this position please outline your previous experiences/available time and a small biography (in the thread below). We'll be in touch.
I wouldn't mind. Over the summer I might be on about 3 hours a day max, which is a lot less than now, so I don't know if that's a bad thing to have if you're gonna try and take a staff position. But I promise I would be on at least once a day, and I enjoy reading. I might be a little more picky about content than even the rules call for, but a quick overview of exact specifications (if there are any) should make sure that isn't a problem. And It's no problem if someone else wants the position, I'll just take it if nopony else wants to. ^^
Hmm this would interest me, but there's no way I could do this until after school is done... which isn't until mid-June.
Submissions are quite rare, actually. It doesn't take much time (unless you pleasure read) and it's not a steady thing. I check my email to see if I get a submission and go from there.
I name you my sucessor, Legion! Or rather, my sucessor's sucessor. You'd be great at it! I hope you get the job!
