Hey everypony! I've just jailbroken my iOS 5.1.1 ipad and ipod and i've got to say, i love it! Beforehoof, i had an iOS 4..2.1 ipod touch 2g jailbroken, and it was really restricted, but now, im using windows 8 on here! Does anyone else have a jailbroken iDevice? I need to find some cool tweaks^^ Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
It's the process of removing limitations that Apple has put on iOS. You gain root access and in turn get to customize almost every aspect of the phone. You can install hacks and some other special apps as well. However, it voids your warranty and can brick your device. The Android equivalent is call "Rooting" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IOS_jailbreaking

Basically, it brings out what an iDevice can really do, though, many use it to get free apps. I had a jailbroken ipod touch 2nd generation and after i got over the craze of free apps, and deleting the free app side of the device, i found out what it can really do. I was running windows phone 7 on an out dated ipod. Right now, im using windows 8 on this ipad. It really can be that "wow" factor! The image uploaded is an example. However, in some cases, it can "brick" a device, which it did to my iPod. "bricking" is when it is stuck on boot-up and will not turn on. A simple restore can fix this, so its no biggie. The common misconception is that jailbreaking is illegal. It is not. Apple semi-turn a blind eye to it and considers it as tampering, which just voids warranty, but only when the jailbreak is active. Again, restoration can fix this. In fact, apple has adopted the ideas which jailbreaking brought on. Multitasking, app store, etc. Yay for long reply! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
