i don't know... What should we think of it? I'd be able to give more of an opinion if i knew more about the "mild drama" you mentioned, since i don't really know what the problem is.

I didn't watch the video but from what I gather from the comments, people don't like it because it isn't showing bronies in a very good light. The only people they interview for the documentary are the crazy fans who are way, way too into it and it just doesn't look good. Kinda like when they interview someone during a flood or hurricane and always manage to find the weirdest, craziest person they can who has some crazy opinion that no one else shares and makes everyone in that town look like a bunch of stupid rednecks or something. Jeff Foxworthy made a joke about it once. Anywayyy that's what they're getting at. That it doesn't show regular people who like the show, but rather the crazy fringe people like the cloppers and such. That's what I gather from the comments, anyway.
A user on Kickstarter named ChapterTwo posted a link to this on the Bronycon documentary page claiming it was "Worse than Fox". Michael Brockhoff, coordinator and executive producer of the Bronycon Documentary wasn't too pleased.
Well, the first time i watched, i just skipped through some parts, and just now i watched the whole thing. What i don't like about it is how they only interviewed the most extreme and/or awkward bronies out of the bunch. I just got a thing against cosplayers in general though. That, and bronies who actually bother buying a dozen happy meals just for the worthless plastic toys in it. No cloppers, actually. The people are mostly just extremely awkward. About half-way through, though, the people who are interviewed start going on about how Bronies are mostly using My Little Pony to cope with the harsh realities of life and such. That, combined with the music and the awkward people filling their loneliness by buying tons of happy meals at McDonalds to get the MLP toys, leads to me being extremely suspicious of the motives of the people who created it.
Ok finished watching. It wasn't terrible. But you really need to be open minded to understand this documentary. It seems to focus more on the depressions of individuals and how MLP has helped them. That's great, but you shouldn't base the ENTIRE presentation on that one factor. I didn't see any coverage of fan works, nor the show itself which is crucial and essentially what our fandom is structured on... Overall, it seems too rushed, there wasn't that much thought put into it, and all of the important factors that make bronies, bronies was neglected to be mentioned.
To be honest, i think they deliberately picked the most awkward bronies... Whoever made this documentary was already prejudiced about bronies, so he only interviewed the bronies he felt most prejudiced about in order to rectify things for HIMSELF instead of everyone. This is a bad documentary on bronies, plain and simple. If there's anything i can do to get this off the internet permanently, i would.
Plus they based about 10 minutes on Neighslayer running around intimidating and ticking off a non-brony, in what seemed to be his own home. That puts us in a really good light don't it? Sigh... hopefully it'll just be forgotten about in a few days.
Have you also noticed at the footage of the convention 5 minutes earlier, one of the bronies litterally says "You can't force someone to be a brony, you just can't." Next thing they show is a bunch of bronies trying to force someone.
Sorry about posting this, guys, but I think it is good to stay informed about the way people are representing our community.
I'll start with an argument in favour which I found supplied by Vulpix of Equestria Forums.com. Vulpix argues that it shows a side of tragedy and anguish within the community that uses Ponies as a coping mechanism to deal with their lives. (link to post) Yes, I will admit that's an issue. It's an issue for a lot of fandoms too, I would imagine. To suggest that this element of us does not exist is folly, I agree, and should be addressed as we progress. Possibly more hugs, I don't know. I also agree that this should not be the length and breadth of Brony portrayal. We just come off as bizarre, distant and deeply obsessed. Like everyone else said, we're being represented by the fringe members of our community that don't appear all that comfortable in front of the camera. Also, Max worries me quite a bit. The irony of enjoying hatred and isolation while referring to Bronies as "The Dark Side" was unnerving to watch. Did anyone else want to go and sit with the guys sitting on the floor at BronyCon 2012 that seemed to be in tears? It's not a side I'd have like to have been portrayed, if only because it's not us as a whole but I wouldn't have asked that you hide it either. However, we're more eccentric and creative than the obsessive collectors it shows us to be and that is a shame. De Lancie, I'd say you have a low bar to hop over.
I feel sorry for the people who were interviewed in this hit piece. Most of the people watching aren't sympathetic to Bronies and are laughing at them. These guys don't need to be heckled because they trusted whoever interviewed them. They need to distance themselves from the fandom for a while and re-evaluate their lives. Hopefully this isn't seen too widely and their lives aren't too deeply affected by this.

I don't think it was really purposely meant to make the fans look bad, but I think they could have talked to some other people. It would be impossible to cover all the areas of the fandom even in a 12 hour long documentary so I certainly wouldn't expect it in a 30 minute one. Still they can cut the time in half with the banjo guys and half again with pimple nose guy and add in some other areas. I'd say it is poorly done over all, but then it isn't finished yet is it? If this were the finished product then I'd say horrible. If this is just some footage that they may or may not use in the real deal, then use parts of it but I'd hope the finished product would be much better. Either way we are going to have a much better and more distributed documentary in a few months anyway so this one ultimately will not matter. I would not want this kind of think completely left out of a John DeLance's documentary as any documentary should be objective and show various areas of the subject and not just what the makers want you to see. The best part of this though has to be Ashleigh Bell Signing ponies. I also kinda loved the reaction of the makeup on Pinkie Pie. I'd be in a panic to get it out too if that happened.
