Hello there! I am looking to assemble a costume for Cure Happy from the new Smile PreCure anime series. This girl, in fact: http://sdsandwiches.com/curehappy-henshin.jpg However, there is a problem. As the series is still in its' premier run, it is too new for any cosplay costumes to have been made commercially available. I sort of know my way around a needle but due to complicated circumstances I cannot work on this at home. Is there anypony out there who might be able to help out?
It was worth a shot. Aren't there any clothing/costume designers in your town? You could try persuading someone to do it on commission. Granted, it might be expensive, but what other choice do you have? Where do you live, approximately, anyway? Kinda hard to know how to help if I know next to nothing about you. Is it for you? For a friend? What?
I live in El Cajon, on the edge of San Diego. Haven't seen a lot of costume stores in either area but then again I don't frequently visit SD. It was originally going to be a secret but this forced my hand >.< I'm going to be cosplaying this girl at SD ComicCon this year.
Well, one does what one must. You might check among your friends to see if anyone is willing to let you borrow a bit of their space in order to make your costume. Or pay a neighbor to let you rent their shed. If these go nowhere, then you really have very little choice, do you? If you're serious about it, you will check SD for costume designers/shops that might be willing to work on commission. If there are none, you'll probably have to resort to advertising this on the internet and/or in a local newspaper. I'd LOVE to go to ComicCon. Be sure to have fun, and to grab the Derpy toy if it is there, as it might be a CC exclusive. What characters do you typically cosplay as?
I haven't cosplayed per say, but I've done some stuff for Halloween like Cloud from Advent Children, a set of armor from Halo, Naked Snake, and a couple other game stuff. But this kind of cosplay is new to me.
Heh. More power to you. I haven't had the guts to cosplay as anything yet at the anime cons I've been too. Hopefully that'll change. Question: Where do I start with Pretty Cure? I have no idea which series to watch first. I watched all of Sailor Moon and CCS years ago, but the only recent magical girl anime I've seen is the excellent but gut-wrenching Madoka Magica.
It doesn't quite matter where you start, each series has its' own characters and plot. Futari Wa Pretty Cure was the first series and is a bit different than the following material, and the only times they get together are the DX special movies. I started at Smile Pretty Cure because I love the music in it, but if you really want a direction start at Suite Pretty Cure, since it's the newest series that's complete.
There were a couple serieses out of the nine that were alternate universe but for the most part, yeah, all the same world.
