    A topic, you say... How 'bout a fanfic? All the characters and setting are there, so you're free to focus on the story/narrative. Can you write pretty much whatever you want? I remember my piece at GCSE was a about a reporter covering 9/11 for a news network before defying orders and helping the emergency services, and that got me an A. Still, everyone in the class was given to the same topic to write on, might be a bit different at your school.

    I did a really long narrative.
    The subject was 'fire'.
    Everyone else did it on things like buildings on fire and main charecter development.
    Me?
    I like to think outside the box.
    Yes. I gave the fire a sociopatical and insane personality amd described it growing from a match to taking over the world in a blazing heaven of glory.
    Got top marks and told to write it up on the PC so my teacher could put it in her portfolio :3
