A large majority of the roleplayers here certainly seem to have a past experience with it except for myself, this is of course with few exceptions. I personally, as just said, got into it when I first came here. It just sort of happened, really. A few of us were just hanging out in the radio chat while listening to some music, some silly minor RP started to happen, y'know, where there's only like a few strings of action, and afterwards it progressed from there. Eventually, it became quite a big thing with a lot of us so the RP chat became a thing, and from that more people joined it and more RP'ers found their roots here.
Never rped before Everypony, yet ironically its what oringinally brought me here. At the time, I was currently writing a fanfic, and I wanted to try out the character with others, so I typed in MLP FIM roleplaying in the google search, next thing I know, I am here.
I had about 9 years worth of forum based RPing and 7 years worth of tabletop RPing before joining Everypony. So I came here with some extensive experience under my belt already. I've also run a couple short games for the tabletop RP group I'm a part of.
I used to RP on DeviantArt chatrooms until my sleeping patterns made that next to impossible for me. For the past five years or so most of my RPing has been done on MSN and Skype, though I rarely use MSN nowadays. I'd like to say I have quite the experience with it.
Nowadays I do a lot of my RPing over Skype, but I used to regularly attend D&D sessions. Really long, but sooooo creative and fun.
I started off on forums and never really left as I hopped around. I sort of found out about Roleplay when discovering an RP Group page on Bebo. Me and a few friends had messed around with Gen8 Hedgehogs Furry Doll Maker and come up with a few characters and ended up joining with my first ever character. Me and my friends started up their own little RP afterwards that hopped around several groups and would end up lasting for around....5 years, I think... When Bebo started getting quiet, I hopped around to other places like Roleplay Gateway and eventually The Path Less Travelled where I stayed for a bit before meeting Foxytail and being shown here last October. Yadda-yadda, watched show, Review Thread, blah, blah, a couple of RP's, Hired, here. So...Going on a decade of experience...probably...
I have been roleplaying on Minecraft Roleplay servers before I came here. Then, I looked for a mlp server. Found here! I still do Minecraft roleplays.
I started roleplaying when I found EP. I didn't come here for it, but I wandered into it and got addicted. Since then I tried a few other places, but I like it here best, either in the forums or on the chat. ^^ I have never played D&D, but I would love to learn. Unfortunately I seem to live in a town of people who do not share my interests. >.> Thus, THE INTERNET!
Best I can possibly comment is that it's a similar experience of writing a Fan Fic but doing so collectively. You share the workload and benefit from the pooling of multiple imaginations and skill sets.
I, myself, played WoW until BC reached its end. Even though I quit WoW at that point in time, one of my friends introduced me to private servers, so I could still live the BC days. After running through around 20 servers, I stumbled across a roleplaying server. I went in...and I loved it. I spent WAY too much time roleplaying there. Around 2 weeks after becoming a brony, I wondered if there were any forums that offered a similar experience. Typed in "My Little Pony Roleplay" in google, ended up here. And...that's my story EDIT: I keep hearing about an RP chat on EP...can I get a link to that? I've never seen if before.
Silly Jhera, it's right up on the top left corner of the page! You click there, and it sends you to the general chat room. Then you can either stay there or go to the RP chat room. Unfortunately it doesn't get used much. D: But when it does... Fun times, fun times.
