I fully agree with this. Personally I just drink when I am hanging with a couple pals. Don't generally get drunk, just a bit tipsy to have some fun.
Okay, I was out at the basketball courts doing trickshots with a friend. So I went for a full court shot, it hit bounced off the rim and blasted this random guy in the face. I said sorry and all that, but then the maniac started chasing me threatening to cut me up. I don't know if he really had a knife or not, but I didn't want to find out, so I just high-tailed it out of there. Scumbag friend did nothing to help me >.>
I don't know about "straight edge," but I do not and will not drink for a couple of reasons. 1. Alcohol tastes absolutely awful. If you find me a drink that tastes good with alcohol in it (which is quite and endeavor in itself), I can guarantee you it would taste 10x better without it. 2. I hate what it does to people. No matter whether you're a happy, sad, or angry drunk, chances are you're an obnoxious drunk. Sent from my DROID3 using Tapatalk 2
I feel out of place here now... I get drunk, quite drunk sometimes, maybe once a month or so (EDIT: less so recently due to financial reasons and I have more responsibilities). HOWEVER, I've have never done anything stupid, I have never passed out or blacked out, and I don't get to the point of throwing up my dinner. Except for when I had my drink spiked once, that was a bad bad night. Keep an eye on your drinks at all times when in public.
Tipsy --- Slightly drunk. I don't actually start to loose my balance if that's what you thought I mean. I enjoy getting a bit drunk since with a couple friends here and there since it improves my overall mood and self-confidence. Just makes for a good night.
I am qualified to be a straight edge and I don't even try lol. @doggy; didn't mean to make anyone feel left out.
I think that getting a bit tipsy can be a bit fun. You're much more confident, but you're still very much in control of yourself. That's what I've found anyway. Sorry to hear that man. I think you did a sensible thing running, there's no point taking chances. As for your friend, he probably was a bit scared, so he just hid. But I guess he could've at least tried to get you out of there quicker.
I used to follow the ways of straight edge before I knew what it was. Once I found out that there was a thing to describe what I was, I latched on to it. In a world where drugs are used to seem cool and have "fun" it was nice knowing a group was out there like me that hates the stuff. Oh no don't worry, it was a bad choice of words on my part, re-reading it the tone doesn't really come through. I was just remarking on how everyone here doesn't seem to drink or at least not much.
Both valid points. Although the second point is slightly questionable. Most of the drunks you'll see are the one's who get hammered in pubs and do stupid things. However, if the drinking is done at home, I've found the effects to be less worse. Like when my cousins get drunk, it's pretty funny. As long as the drink's are limited, I see no harm.
I go to wine tastings. I like the way some wine tastes, others I don't like at all. I don't go out to get drunk. I have a glass of wine occasionally when I'm home. I'll even have a beer or two if I'm watching sports or out at a game. I never get to the point of being drunk or out of control. Just like everything else in life, it should be done in moderation.
TBH, I prob have hid away too, out of fear. Neither of us would be able to stop the guy, so just running was the best choice.
