As great as a community as the brony community is, it can get overwhelming, or even silly at times. Maybe you have a moment of realization when you ask yourself "Why am I watching a show for little girls?".

So, for the sake of conversation, what is your "limit" on how much of the community you can take? For me, I can't take a good portion of the fan-made music (although there are some I do enjoy), some art, and pretty much any pony-related thing tied with sexuality.

I own all ~50 episodes in iTunes. I have lots of pony shirts, a pair of shoes, and a belt. I own several toys. I text my wife with pony faces which she happily returns. I read about the show on the Internet and watch fan videos. I designed my own personal cutie mark and had it tattooed in my hip.

    If I have a limit, I haven't found it, yet. :)

I have asked myself why I like MLP, but then I ask myself, "why does it matter?" I don't ask myself why I watch Adventure Time, or Family Guy, or anime, etc.

As far as the pony thing goes, I watch the show, I take part in the community and I draw pony stuff on occasion. That's about it. I'm not really all that big into the merch aspect, or going to conventions. One day I may get a shirt or something, and I'd like to go to BroNYcon atleast once, but it's not really a top priority right now.

Yep, I think people can pony to much.

If this is true, this is my proof.

That's messed up man, I like ponies but I wouldn't go as far to name my kid after one o_O As for too much pony, I mainly watch the show. I've tried drawing RD couple times but I can't get the wings right. I only have 1 shirt, and it's the 20% in ten seconds flat one, Pretty swag.

Yes, I do think there is such a thing as too much pony, just like everything else. I contribute to these kind of websites, read a couple fanfic's, do some drawings, listen to brony music, and enjoy the works of others. I do not have any merch execpt my Cheerilee, but mostly I'm like Frost, it's not a major part of my real life.

Wow. I've named a few of my pet tarantulas after ponies and I thought that was a bit odd at first.

See that's fine. It's an animal, not a person. This person shouldn't have named her child after a pony. This kid life, I can only guess how it will turn out with a name like this.

Louis CK was right. There are no rules to naming your child. Wgich is why I shall name my first child

    Fhdrnbsdfp. It's prefect.

Almost had me until I read about Optimus Prime.

Anyway, back on the topic. I believe things you enjoy is good for you in moderation I use this principle on everything I enjoy because I don't wanted get so into it I lose touch with everything else I wanted keep up with, or that I get burned out on the interest. But like any other fandom, there are some that like it too much, and that's when it gets weird (for me that is). It's better to have a wide selection of interest.

As it is with all things, there can indeed be too much of something. (Put that on a t-shirt and sell it ::S:). I do think that it is possible to have too much pony. Granted I've watched both seasons at least two or three times through (probably chump change compared to others), listen to a ton of the fan made music, and have some merch, but it's not like it rules my life. I still listen to a lot of non pony music, watch other shows, video game, play board games, and go to tabletop role playing sessions with friends. I've been to a local scifi con several times before My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic was even released. So if you're life revolves around nothing but ponies, then I would start questioning.

Pinkamena isn't that bad as far as baby names go. There are far, far worse.

Seriously, there are kids out there with names like ****head (pronounced shi-theed), Meconium, Merkin, Nausea, Saddam Sars (naming your kid after current events is NEVER a good idea), 4Real/Superman and Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii.

Now that I think about it, if I ever had a son, I might be inclined to call him Pegasus. He'd be the coolest kid in school. :D

Not really condoning naming children after ponies, but if you have to do that I think Pinkamena is one of the better options. A person not into the show would probably not know it is a pony name, it's fairly obscure.

As for pony names I would consider for my children, what about Luna? (Who is also the moon godesss of Rome). That is fairly obscure and could have other sources than ponies.

Scientifically proven that naming your child something uncommon will negatively affect their self-esteem and social development.

Want to name your animals pony names? Knock yourself out. Internet/gaming handles? Go nuts.

For a child? John or Rachel or something will do just peachy.

Anyway, YES people can do too much pony. People can do too much of a lot of things, and they often do. Everything in moderation.

I guess Pinkamena isn't too bad. I mean Pinkie could work as a nickname. However, I still think that naming a child after a cartoon is pushing it.

Still Pinkamena isn't as bad as "Number 16 Bus Shelter". (no joke, look it up)

What's even worse than that is that there are 16(?) children in the U.S. named Lol, not joking.

While the naming thing is all very weird, I also agree Pinkamina is a pretty good name, as well as Luna.

Anyway, I've had the issue of this odd little interest of ours creeping people out around me. So I tend to draw a line at broadcasting my Bronyhood, or whatever you call it, too much or too blatently. I'm not embarassed but I find it goes down easier if they've let me jabber idiotically for fourty minutes about myself and the tedium of Java development. They perk right up after I've said that following the minutest details of my coursework or RP character continuity.

Is it just me, or would Octavia also be a good name for a child?

On-topic, I think there is a thing as too much pony. When you've put so much time and effort into it, sometimes you forget what you're missing out on in other aspects of your life, plus if you only like pony stuff then that severely limits the people you can interact with.

Octavia would be a really classy name for a girl, actually. Something you'd expect someone from an "old money" background to have.
