You will get to choose your own stats. Here are the categories: Strength (Used in melee combat or when moving heavy objects, for example.) Agility (For dodging or hitting fast-moving objects, or catching, etc.) Marksmanship (kinda obvious, skill with any kind of projectiles.) Intelligence (How much your character already knows, how well your character can put two and two together.) Perception (How quickly your character learns, how observant your character is.) Willpower (Strength of will. Used when scary things go bump in the night, for example.) Lore/Magic (Your character's knowledge of magic, and if your character is a unicorn, skill in casting spells as well.) Luck (how much dumb luck your character has; used occasionally for determining things happening out of your direct control.) You have 40 points to place, you can place up to 9 points in any one category. Your stats will stay the same for the whole RP, except for items which might affect these stats. I also will give your character a unique ability based on their general info. All right, here's the summary of how the stats work. When you try to do something (say, move a boulder), I'll test a stat (in this case, strength). Depending on how difficult the task is (-2 to your strength stat for the sheer size of the boulder, for example), what items you have (some sort of lever might get you a +1), special abilities (if you had some sort of ability that gave +1 to stat checks involving earth or stone, you would get +1), and many other things such as the environmental conditions and such, you will get modifiers. Then, I will roll a D10 and if it is higher than the stat (factoring in modifiers), you fail. If it is lower than or equal to the stat, you pass. If, for example, you roll a 1, that will not only automatically pass you (as you cannot get a stat less than one), but the higher your stat was in the first place, the bigger of a bonus you'll get. For example, last time SnowM got a 1 when rolling for a fireball cast, then a 2 when rolling for marksmanship. She pretty much turned the enemy into ash. Now, my other scenario was much more combat-heavy, and also it was, shall I say, an "Alpha" version of my stats system. The players lost a few opportunities to better themselves because I failed to explain the rules thouroughly. But, some other times I just made up/changed rules on the spot as I saw fit (yes I know, bad bad me!) and then kept it that way. But after that one "playtest" shall I call it, I think we'll have a less bumpy ride, eh? Name: Lucky Clover Gender: Stallion Breed: Earth Special Talent: Able to find items and artifacts that others consider lucky. Cutie Mark: Green four leaf clover Personality: Lucky is a happy-go-lucky (pun intended) pony. He enjoys seeing other ponies, as well as being outdoors. It is difficult to get on his bad side, but for those that do, it can be just as difficult to get an amiable reaction from him. Lucky has a curious streak about him, which lends itself to his special talent. Background: He never got a chance to really get to know his parents, as they mysteriously vanished when he was a very young foal. The elderly mare that took him in knows what happened, and told him when he was older. According to what he has been told, the area that his parents were raising him had been viciously attacked by creatures from the Everfree. Nopony knows what they wanted, and some of those in the same area simply disappeared. Whether they got out alive or not is a mystery (his parents included), and one that the elderly mare doesn't know the answer to. She found him while traveling through the destroyed and abandoned area, and decided to take him in (thus starting his lucky streak). The mare has been teaching him about the ways of the world, as well as enrolling him in the pony public education system. The one subject that never interested him much was magic and its lore. Growing up, he has mostly just done the odd job here and there... until the elderly mare discovered his penchant for finding lucky items. Since that moment, his main career has been finding various items for other ponies that they have lost.
