So my friend had an idea to make "Brony awards" for best bronies in several categories, and he would like to know if somepony would be itnerested in something like that and in what categories would they be awarded in so the bronies who contributed most would be awarded.
To me, that seems like it could go two ways. Reason is it would have a chance of being seen as biased and a few may be left out and not feel very happy.
That can be seen as a hierarchy of sorts, something that ponies on EP typically don't like. I prefer for people to be judged based on their posts or their personality, rather than how many awards they have. Not to mention how competition may cause some tension. Although it does seem like fun.
Awards seem unneccesary. Not only for the above reasons, but also because they wouldn't really serve a purpose anyway.
No offence, but there is a lot more negatives to this idea than there could ever be Positives. It is a nice idea, but I am afraid it would not work.
You guys know we already have an award. Several, but only one that might be reused. I can't be the only one that knows about it right?
Ramza/Saikyo was "pony of the year" Flash had some awards, no idea if he still does. I wonder if the POTY will return.
Nope. I enjoy awards and hierarchies (Lolcapitalism). Gives you something to aim for. However. I agree with Rarit E.
I've actually talked to Foxy about this matter and he says that he will talk to the other staff about coming up with more awards to give out at some time in the future.
I agree. I don't think it'll be any different from the reputation system that was removed for a reason.
How so? People will get told about how they can earn awards, resulting in everyong going through incredible lengths to gain said awards just for the sake of getting some. Unless of course, you don't tell them HOW to get a specific award. Then it might work out. Still, i don't really see the purpose. I for one don't need an award to prove to others how much i'm worth. :derpe:
They will probably just give out the rewards without letting the ones who are receiving it know or others and then post it up in a new community post.
We're still talking about it, but my first thoughts were to give them out based on actions. Flash and Viper got their awards for the work they've done for the site in specific ways. It's just a matter of deciding what's award worthy really.
