Hiya Everypony, I've been wanting to start my own art thread for a while but kept putting it off but now I've finally gotten off my lazy flank and done it. Unfortunately there's not a lot to start with, I've been a bit slack lately with the whole drawing thing but I hope you enjoy and there'll be more to come Spoiler: Realism Starting with, a foot! Oh the excitement! :derpe: High Resolution Spoiler: Landscapes I never quite finished this one but I think sometimes you just have to be 'done' with a picture and move onto better things. It might be a bit dark so check your screen brightness. High Resolution Spoiler: Practice doodles Practicing twisted plants Spoiler: Sketches How I like to imagine dinosaurs died, very nondramatically...
I wish I could do landscape stuff. That foot is awesome. I think I need to spend more time on my own art.
Stop wishing and start doing! Easier said than done I know, I almost scrapped that drawing about 8-10 times, only thing that kept me going was the fact that I didn't have a choice, I HAD to finish it. I think I spent about 6 maybe 7 weeks on the foot, time definitely pays off, if you can manage to stick with it. And thanks
Landscape requires imagination. Mine jumped ship. My longest time on one drawing was 9 hours. I'm doing something wrong.
Now you know that's not true, landscapes don't require imagination :derpe: You should get one of your old drawings, or even someone else's, and try to spend at least 2 weeks redrawing and improving upon it. I think you would even surprise yourself at what you can do. If you had asked me 10 weeks ago whether I could draw that graveyard picture I would have said, "Not a chance!" EDIT: Added 'high resolution links' in OP.
I'm totally not posting my progress so far so I can convince myself I'm being productive and procrastinate that little bit longer. Definitely not... Anyway, here's the start of a scene that will be a small part of a much larger project* I'm still in the process of figuring out how to actually pull all my ideas for the scene together, but it's getting there, slowly but surely. EDIT: It's also kind of interesting to see how drawings actually start out, like crap :derpe: *note: I wont be disclosing much, if any, info on the project in case it never comes to anything.
Sweet. I'd like to do a city scape type thing and before you say it. No, I can't just up and do it. I can't wait for the updates to it. On a different note I find it bad that only me and you have posted here. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
What on earth makes you think I would even say something like that? Well you might have to, you and I seem to share the laziness gene :derpe: Eh, I was half expecting it tbh, the whole Non-pony Art area seems to be pretty quiet. Still, I wasn't expecting it to be quite this quiet, can't exactly make people post though. I'll just keep posting stuff up and hope for the best I guess.
Just cause. I can't even manage a single pony let alone a whole city. Last picture took 18 days. So you have 18 days. Do it filly. Only the RP section and general disscussion get activity. Everything else just sits and dies. Why, because no one cares. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
All it's takes is time. Well, technically 15 days since I started 3 days ago... True, maybe the topics shouldn't be as specific. E.g. Instead of 'Non-pony Art' & 'Pony Art' and 'Literature' & 'Fan-fiction' just have 'General Creativity' & 'Creative Writing' respectively. It might be good to have them grouped together more, it would bring the activity of them together, meaning more views for each thread and hopefully more posts. I dunno, could be worth a shot, bring people out of their comfort zones a bit? Cheers Mate
I'm still gonna say it's because no one cares. I planned to never use my thread again. It's not worth the time to update when no one checks it. Like the random pony art thread, it been died for 30 days. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
MY THREAD, IT LIVES! (for now) I mean... here's a teaser of my latest drawing I'm doing for a friends B'day, still a decent amount of work yet to do but the basic idea is down at least, anyway enjoy.
Wow! I really like your art Doggy! Your latest piece is looking really good with that perspective, and those twisted trees are great! What really won me over was that foot! You have tonality down so well! Great job with those low key tones. Was it done with charcoal? How long did it take you? I could never do something as good as that. Keep arting!
ARGH! Zombie thread Hehe, I haven't worked on that Cake Monster since I posted last, I really need to finish it off. Funny you mention the perspective though, it's actually really off, I just faked it. Actually the foot was done digitally as well, I made it in Photoshop using just the standard brush tool, here's a semi-completed shot of it that show it's digitally-ness a bit more. I also took a black and white photo of my own foot to use as reference. EDIT: How long did it take me? I can't quite remember, 6 weeks on and off. If I had to guess I'd say about 20hrs. Thanks Kioku, I'm glad you like them! I guess while I'm here I may as well post something, I don't have any completed works (what a surprise, lol) but I'll offer this as a cop out. Thanks man Nope, I just made that tree up, I don't know what the Fern Gully tree looks like but I've never watched Fern Gully before so I'm pretty sure it's not it :derpe:
