It is generally safe to say Rainbow Dash is the favorite pony amongst us bronies and pegasisters, yes? From my limited understanding I find that Rainbow Dash is most popular in fan fictions, role plays, and often claimed 'best', 'most awesome', etc. pony. Many MLP FiM watchers name Rainbow Dash their favorite pony. Well, I was never fond of the brash rainbow maned mare, and here is my reasoning. What is there to like about her? A lot, I suppose. Her intense loyalty. Her dare devil persona. Her snazzy attitude. But then there's... that. She is the opposite of humble. She couldn't be modest for the life of her! Yes, she supposedly learned that lessen in the 'Mare-Do-Well' episode but did that stop her from competing with Apple Jack? Cheating in their competitions? Using her wings, because she couldn't stand the thought of losing? Whenever a friend is in pain she can't help but put in a rude, nasty remark. i.e Rarity, when her dresses were laughed at. Rainbow Dash assured poor Rarity that she was the laughing stock of the village instead of comforting her. Also, she is so unbelievably rude to Twilight! On countless occasions she has made fun at Twilight for being an 'egg-head'. Your favorite pony in a boastful, crude, cold character. I hereby name her my least favorite pony of the Mane 6, dare I.
Awww, a pony dislike thread. :< Any disrespect I might have had for Rainbow Dash was killed when baby Dash stood up for baby Fluttershy. Some people like her for the same competitive personality that others find so unlikable. She's not the typical girly girl froo froo mess that ponies tend to be, so that appeals to plenty. Although there are times that she is a little rude, I don't see it as her actually trying to be rude. She just happens to have tougher skin than everypony else, and just not notice.
Dash used to be my favorite until that pretty fashion pony took her spot. Loyality is great, being a thrill seeker is also pretty awesome. I love her attitude. Well if you put the episodes in order, she did learn her lesson. Iron pony contest was before the mare-do-well episode. This I don't remember. I might have missed this episode. You ever think that Dash just might be up front with others. Maybe she isn't good at comforting others. I call my friends worse names. Why do I do that, because I like them. I see this a Dash liking Twilight What's wrong with the above anyway. Look at her opposite Fluttershy. She's is a quiet, submissive female. 1.) Rarity FTW 2.) Those are pretty much the things I like Rainbow Dash for, so I must agree. 3) I still think she is extremely boastful and she'll never be 'humble'. It's a flaw that hasn't and won't be fixed, a rather unattractive flaw. 4) It happened, on a few occasions I remember her insulting her friends which under any circumstance is not likable. 5) I generally dislike her personality, that's all.

I agree guys. Hold yer horses! This thread is nothing to argue about. In fact, i see where the OP is coming from. That said, i don't think she'd that bad.
no reason to lock thread if we can have civil discussion on the topic. now for my input: well, Rainbow Dash does have her flaws, and because of her attitude, May The Best Pet Win was only episode that got 3/5 from me (if it wasn't for that awesome song, it would be 2/5). However, Rainbow Dash does have good qualities as well. For example when she gave support to Fluttershy in Hurricane Fluttershy or when she gave all the credit to Fluttershy in same episode. She does have an attitude, but she knows to draw the line when things become serious.
Don't you like Rainbow? Too bad, but thats more Dashie for me I guess. The things you see as flaws however are part of the reason I like her so much. I am far from humble myself, having prophet ambitions and all, so that is a trait I identify with. I am also extremly legalistic and often interprets rules to my advantage, to be fair, it was never stated she could not use her wings in the first part of the competition. About those nasty remarks, the way I see it Rainbow always speak her mind, regardless of how that affects everypony else. What I mean in that she is often upfront with what she thinks and that can sometimes come of as rude as she is not that sensitive. Rainbow is actually a very honest pony sometimes, but she is not that good considering other ponies feelings. She is not alone with this however, in cider season, Pinkie Pie seemed rather cruel to Dash in my opinion, but I take it as she was unaware that she hurt her as Pinkie is a rather nice pony if she can managedv to slow down just a moment to notice how everypony else is feeling. The same thing with Dash, she is not always aware how others are feeling. About the egghead thing, don't we all know Rainbow is an egghead? She have trouble admitting that to herself though as she feel it would destroy her image. Still, the fact remains Rainbow is smarter than she would like to admit. Also, Dash is probably that type who keps emotions locked up, so she does certainly feel more than she lets on. Overall I feel Rainbow Dash is a complicated being often torn between her image and a softer inner nature. She is in my opinion the most conflicted of the mane 6. This conflict, a well as her general attitude, personality and intelligence. Her flaws just makes her more beautiful to me. This was my attempt defending my favorite pony.
In cider season, Pinkie Pie may have rubbed it in a bit, but do you not recall what Dash said? Something along the lines of-- "I'm going to get there first this season and buy all the cider so by the time she gets there they'll be none for her. And I'll drink it drop by drop in front of her, laughing when she doesn't get any." That was pretty mean, even for the rudest pony of the bunch. I know her character flaws make her who she is. That makes everypony who they are: Heck, Rarity is my favorite because of dramatic, vain attitude. Those are flaws I find amusing/admirable in her. A lot of people are saying they like her become they can relate to her persona. I can't. If anypony, I would be... Pinkie Pie, or Fluttershy, or a mix. I'm not even close to Dash and all of the traits she has I find least desirable in someone I would be friends with. See, if Rainbow was a real person with all the same persona? It would be hard to be in the same room as her arrogant, smirking cyan face. She has her good moments, believe me I know. I'm a brony and I don't need to reminded of every act of goodness. Everypony has a pony of the Mane 6 they don't love as much as the rest. See, Scootaloo. She is like R.D except acceptable because she tones down all these flaws instead of being so obvious with them, therefore I enjoy her part in the Filly 3 though still not as much as Apple Bloom's. Her traits are alright if not so steadfast and stubborn. But, unfortunately, they are and there stands the argument of why R.D is my least favorite. Right above Twilight Sparkle. But that isn't saying anything much: the only reason I like R.D more than T.S is because T.S bores me to death.
Well you did get one thing wrong OP. Rainbow dash is not the most popular pony. Twilight Sparkle currently holds that honor, although personally Fluttershy will be my favorite til the end. As for RBD's personality, her tomboy attitude is rather brusque, but not rude per say. Just like when she read the Adventures of Daring Doo or just before the young flyers competition, we see her acting outwardly one way, but keeps her true feelings hidden. And the "insults" she uses on her fellow ponies are more terms of endearment than anything else. Like how when guys get together and rag on each other. It's not meant to be taken offensively, it's just the way she is. I'm not saying you're wrong for disliking her. You can dislike any of the characters of the show for any reason, or no reason at all. I myself am not very fond of Pinkie Pie, I find her personality be more annoying than charming. I'm just saying there is more to her personality than meets the eye.
This, you said it better than I did Frost. However everypony is entitled to their own opinion. Edit. About Dash in the cider episode, you have to remember that Pinkie had been hogging all the cider for years, and Dash was extremly frustrated with this. I would probably consider the same thing Rainbow was at this point. Despite, I think not having her get any was just empty words, Dash would certainly give her one mug eventually pleaded enough. After all, they are very close friends in my view. I don't hold anything against Pinkie either, she is my second favorite after all.
Put simply, I think her good qualities outway her bad qualities. I ♥ Rainbow Dash ever since the sonic rainboom and one of the clips from the first anthology.
