Honestly, I don't see how anyone could be apart of the community WITHOUT being a big fan of the show. No offense, but it just doesn't make any sense to me. Why join the fanbase if your not even a very big fan of the actual show that's resbonsible for said fanbase? It really confuses me.

That being said, the fanbase is usually great. I like alot of the fanfics and other fan products that came from this awesome fanbase. Actually, I think that this fanbase managed to kill the "All fanfics are crap" mentality that most of the internet users had. And most brony's seem to be very caring and nice.

As for why I'm a brony? The fanbase, and most importantly, the actual show are fantastic. Nuff said.

I'm not a brony. I'm not ridiculous about the show and I avoid communities altogether.

I enjoy the show. It's fun, colourful, charming, witty, adorable and downright relaxing. I have no idea why people are so closed off to it.

Why am I a brony you ask? Why? I shall tell you why! Because I love the show, the animation, the characters, the story, and it's adorable to boot.

MLP relates easily to both young children and adults, I find it simply amazing.

Also, Tara Strong is one of the voice actors..... I'll just leave it at that.

The joy I get from the show far out weighs the joy the fandom gives me.

The choice is an easy one.

I'm in if for the plot community.

I've watched all the episodes, but since January this year, I don't really have much interest in the show as I used to.

I was a brony for the show, I'm still a brony because, through the show, I have met many amazing people, and helped people too, and this still continues to lighten up my life.

However I will say that I like and dislike the fandom.

I'll always remain a brony as long as the show continues to make me smile. I do like the fandom for the most part too, although I have met a couple bronies who make me lose my brony spirit a little. I try not to let them get to me with their depression and neutral to negative attitude towards everything. I'll stick my neck out to defend bronies as a whole. It's fun to be part of a fast-growing community that shares common interests. This fandom is definitely more unique than the other fandoms I've taken part in. I also love the anticipation for new episodes and fan-made material as well. Clop hurts my feelings, but I rarely come across it anyways. It bothered me a lot at one time and I still don't approve of it personally, but as long as I'm not forced to take part in it, I have no business telling them it's wrong.

The great thing about being a brony, isn't to watch little cartoon horses. Its to show everyone online that I did

Because I love it. Community and show.

I think fell in love with the show the moment I saw the first intro sequence, and I still love it.
It's clever, fun, well-made, colorful, relaxing... And unlike most tv nowadays, it doesn't make me want to jump out of a window screaming "WHERE DID IT WENT WRONG WITH HUMANITYYYYYY".
The show helps me smile when I'm at a low point, and it gives me a place to escape to with my thoughts when I'm surrounded by bad stuff. Dunno, I guess it's really something special to me.

That said I don't even watch the actual show that much, currently maybe one episode a week and that's enough to keep the magic burning bright. I visit this site, Equestria Daily and My Little Brony often on a daily base, because I love to keep track of this awesome community and the cute fanart. But in the end I'm not a very fanatical brony.

For me I like the show and the community, In my opinion, what makes me a brony is that fact that I fell in love with the show (I love the characters and the animation, as well as the story lines that develop all that)

But also that I take part in the fandom as much as I watch the show. The fandom in General for me is one of the most awesome I have come across because most (If not all) To some degree follow the Love and tolerate motto. And that means everyone gets along and we're all friends and are there for each other!

I'm a brony because I like the show and what it's about. We could all stand to learn more kindness, loyalty, generosity, truthfulness, and laughter. I define a brony or pegasister by the way they act; actions speak louder than words.

I see for most of you it's the community that draws you. Fan art is right up there too. I read one reference to Bronies with negative and/or neutral attitudes. I think sometimes people assume those attitudes because they have given up and it's so much easier to condescend to others instead of trying to relate. What I'm seeing here, for the most part, is a positive attitude.

I originally started watching the show for a number of reasons. First, my friends told me that it was very good, and that I should watch it. I was drawn to become a part of something greater than myself. Second, the content of the show astounded me, and surpassed any expectations I had for it. The characters were lovable, the voice acting was good, and the animation was cool. The style of the art was also very cute, and I took to it almost immediately.

Why did I stay a Brony and decide to meet other Bronies? Well, you might say that I was supported by the vast amount of work done by fans. In such a short time, the fandom exploded into a myriad of artists, musicians, writers, other talented or appreciative people. It also held, as a general rule, that the Bronies I met upon my introduction to the fandom were kindly and supportive.

Belonging to this fandom does not, by any stretch of the imagination, make someone a nice person. However, belonging to this fandom can give some people an excuse to showcase their caring side, and share kindness with others. I believe that belonging to this community has simply given me a chance to share that side of myself with others.

There's no shame in that, surely.

I was around when the show was new in November 2010. Never called myself a brony then, since I don't think such a community was formed till later on. I found this by curiosity on youtube in Mid November of 2010 and click to watch it. I didn't really think about it when i was watching that I was aware that this was a girl show and being a Animation Nut, I sat down and watched it. I was Amazed that this differs from the other installments that i didn't really care for in the begin with. The Animation was colorful, polished, Stunning and well made for a show that I found out later was in Flash and other Adobe products. The thing that made me wanting more was the cliff hanger on the first episode with it's two parts in one. Had to know what was going to happen. After the part two of the first episode was over, I found myself wanting more. So I waited for more episodes to come out and keeping this a secret at the time later found out a huge amount of videos with the same stuff and clips of the show that I was watching before and Music video started coming out and Pictures and many more. This show has become a obsession to me for almost 2 years and it been 10 years since my last obsession with Ed,edd,'n'eddy. So Yeah. Over time, I collected Shirts, Figures and have a poster and framed but haven't hung up. A lot has changed in almost two years of my life and too be honest...It was for the better good that I stubble to this show by curiosity. I haven't been happy in a long time and the only sheared of happiness I got was my family. Nothing else. Nowadays I'm more social, Open (Which i was to begin with), Happy, Not afraid to be myself anymore, and many more.

If a man, or a woman for that matter cannot explain and defend their passions they cannot blame others for not understanding.
