As much as it tears at my insides to say this, they really shouldn't have those patches on their uniforms. They have authorized patches for a reason, which is to look professional.

I plan on going into the military myself as a pilot, and if the craze is still strong I'll proudly display my Bronyism.
I'll wear a cutie mark necklace, and I'll name my plane after my OC if possible.
But I won't put a non-authorized patch on my uniform.

I'm not familiar with the processes and regulations, but perhaps they could go through the paperwork to make it a legitimately military patch.

    As for the other things...
    Let's take this thing apart.

    >wearing a duty uniform while supposedly off-duty or at an unauthorized location
I'm almost pretty sure this is absolute bullcrap, and I have two things to back this.
1- My town is next to an Airforce base, and so you'll likely find people in military clothing just about everywhere.
2- I've taken ROTC for about 3 years now, going into my 4th. According to the official guidelines, you're free to wear your uniform wherever you damn well please so long as it's not something political.

    >wearing an official Army uniform to an event that I guarantee the Army is not officially involved with
    Look at my previous point.

    >wearing a non-sanctioned patch on the uniform in place of current unit patch
This they actually shouldn't be doing I believe.

    >and attending a My Little Pony convention

How do you mean? I sense the story is accurate. What's wrong with it?

Wind is right. You wouldn't go into a meeting with a pony badge.
    Also, bron-Y.

The story is probably accurate, but Fox News has long had a childish grudge against bronies. So childish even, that most of their "facts" on bronies are actually retarded lies.

Once Fox compared us to disabled man-babies. But you shouldn't wear a patch not issued by the army. And like Zephyr said, you can wear your uniform almost wherever you want.

I agree, you shouldn't tarnish the uniform by having it on there.
But it's obvious that they just threw in the 'My Little Pony' convention thing in the 'official statement' to put slander, quite cleverly, on the military bronies.
    Idiots.

True. I was in the army and I know for a fact non official patches are not allowed. As far as wearing the uniform on personal time, usually if it's not anything that would bring dishonor on the military it's allowed.

I sensed a bit of a dig here and there in the article, but have no fear! I may be more of a conservative but I vet everything I see and hear through my objectivity filter.

What, isn't that with everything in Fox News though? Though I agree with the not wearing unauthorized patches thing, there's still nothing truly absouletly horrendously wrong with it.

Still, "lolfoxnews" in the way they dug for that response to quote. That whole thread, pretty much, was playing the old "no masculinity" game.

Non-official patches or markings are not allowed on your Cammies and Battlerattle, but int he same regard that was all banned years ago. The same rules for uniform apply to vehicle, so no, Servicemen shouldn't be wearing their cammies with an unauthorized patch. But Fox has also been known to take things farther than needed, and also, saying that a servicemen can't wear his uniform in public is complete bull, of course as previous posters have stated unless it is a political event, then you dress up into your formals. While pony patches don't belong on the uniform I don't see why it's a problem, they are easily removed, Fox news doesn't really understand people that well, and with their long standing grudge against bronies, and just about everything else in existence that isn't rich and white, I don't really take this article very seriously. That is all. Haec protegimus.

From what I know and have learned, you're not supposed to sew patches onto your uniform that aren't badges or other similar military articles.

However, when that one forum user Fox quoted said that the soldiers shouldn't be wearing any uniforms when not on duty, I almost laughed. I know one particular US Marine that likes to go tramping about in his uniform just because he can. There are even uniforms that soldiers are SUPPOSED to wear when they're not "on duty" (in parades and the like), so the fact that they thought that was wrong just shows how little they knew in the first place.

    For sure.

Guys, the fact that they said "Attending a My Little Pony convention" as an official violation is not only childishly biased, but when they already said "Wearing a duty uniform while off-duty or at an unauthorized location" which practically includes attending non-military conventions, is more than enough proof to end this thread.

The brony-discrimination isn't even subtle here...

Men like the guys on foxnews are scared, because people are slowly starting to see through their immature little games. We're beginning to use our own brains. The whole fact there's now people in the militairy being open about liking My Little Pony is proof of this; we are no longer conformative meatheads, who blindly follow orders and believe every lie our rich white overlords throw at us.

Looks like we have a little left-winger over here. I'm centralist myself, but I think I know a place perfect for you: www.reddit.com/r/politics

Now now. You don't watch Fox News. Don't deny it. You are saying that because someone else said that. Don't let someone else do your thinking for you. Like anything else, there is both good and bad in anything. I watch ALL of the news outlets and i can say that Fox is one of the most fair. I am a conservative and i have no problem saying that a liberal like Jon Stewart can be fair to both sides more than most. I can say that because i see the man for myself. I don't let ANYONE tell me what to think or say.

I won't argue with you. Let peace reign here. I will only say that because of human nature we all push some sort of agenda to one degree or another. Of course I don't agree with them on everything. Most likely I'd agree with you more than I'd agree with them.
