Can somebody help me with something?

Well, my parents kind of found out that I liked MLP. And needless to say, they aren't exactly proud of me. My dad thinks Bronies are all 35 year old men who are creepers, and my mom just wants me to grow up. They both want me to stop participating in the fandom and quit for good. Now, I do respect my parents and I love them a lot, but I don't think I can just quit.

I love this show, much more the community. It's fun, entertaining, and gives me something to do every once in a while. My cousin even likes the show. I want them to understand, yet at the same time I can't explain it the way someone else could.

I don't know what to do really. I'm very conflicted at the moment and I don't know what to do. If anybody could give me some advice, wether they've been in this situation or not, it's all the same. Thanks for everything guys.

Could you show them this site? I'm not certain if that would help or not.

That's the only way I can think of to explain it to them. I'm bad at this stuff.

My only advice would be to show them something, anything, about this fandom that doesn't live up to their image of bronies. Use whatever you can to prove them wrong.

In other words, dont show them pics of Mic the Microphone and Jackleapp by fans ::S: For the most part anyway.
    Maybe show them some music?
But, at first, dont let them know its brony music.

Nah, seriously. You just need to find whatever you can to open their eyes properly. There's a good chance they still won't like it, but maybe it'll help them understand why you like it.

    Won't work.

Pretend you've quit, but watch in secret. Using some form of magic.

Yeah, pretty much what Rarit E said. Show them they're wrong about bronies. It may not work, but it's better than nothing.

Show them lesson zero? That's got to be the least little-girlish episode at the moment.

    Oh you. XD

    Ok, sounds like a plan.

Yeah I don't think I can convince them to watch it. That's definitely a no-go.

That's what I first thought, but I wanted to get further opinions on the situation.

You could tell them to just deal with it. You like it, and they don't. They probably like things that you don't like, too. In my experience, parents don't like being told to "suck it up" by their children, but in this case, they're the ones who may be reacting in an immature way. Their political or social opinions may influence them here. Try giving them an honest explanation, and show them you're mature, despite what they may think of the television programs you watch.

Golden star for Dilly for posting a better solution than me. :p

I agree, just be honest with them.

I agree with everypony else. This is probably the most helpful advice so far.

I'm glad you think so. I just hope everything works out for you.

I get a gold star? Cool!

I guess sometimes I have good ideas.

While your parents' opinion and guidance mean a lot, you can't let their disagreeing rule you and ruin something you enjoy. They're your parents; you won't always see eye to eye with them.

    That's for sure.

For example, my father and I don't get along most of the time. That's alright, I just keep on truckin' apple-buckin'.
