This generation is no different from the last. You'll have the popular ones who end up in low-end jobs and you'll get the nerds who will get well-payed jobs.

Whenever I would tattle on my brother for doing something little, or ask inappropriate questions, my dad would just say "Worry about you." So, that's how I suggest the next generation conduct themselves. We should focus on learning, and on trying to be the best we can be. A little help would be greatly appreciated, but there you go.

I try to conduct myself under the following mentality: I do not know enough. I am not yet "smart enough." I don't think there is such a thing. The quest for greater knowledge and understanding is a never-ending one. I also try to avoid thinking that I'm smarter than someone else, because there's a great deal of hubris in that. Additionally, if I do know something important that they don't know, it's probably just because I have the advantage of being told that thing first, and it would be best for me to share that information with them.

    Thank you very much.

I don't believe that's a fair assessment. We can disagree with each other; as much as you think your opinion is right, he can still think it is wrong, and he's trying to tell you why.

I don't really think that's fair either. It might be true in some cases, but frequently, those politicians you're referring to had to make it through a lot of schooling and elections to get where they are. You might not agree with them all the time, and they may do crooked things some of the time, but those are separate issues.

    Good point. I agree.

I believe a very smart man once said that "Everyone is smart. If you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it is stupid."

Or, you can look at that movie and say, "The media changed his character to make it more similar to what society's expectations of a teenage male are. They made him more 'ideal' in their eyes."

It sounds pessimistic, but it happens all the time.

I don't think this generation's youth are any dumber than the lasts'. Ask your parents to tell you about some of the dumb stuff they did when they were kids.

As far as pop culture goes, it's a moot point. There are many people that believe today's youth are somehow more dumb, more egotistical and have less taste and class than the previous generation. What do you think people thought about societies' youth when rock and roll first came out?

And if youth today is less educated than previous generations, it may not be youths fault. It may be the teachers who are teaching them, the administrators of schools failing to make sure teachers do their jobs, or politicians failing to provide enough funding for schools to function. Or it may just be that other countries education systems are getting better, making yours look worse when it has in fact not changed. I'm not pointing the finger at any one particular group, I'm just saying there are other possibilities.

Besides, how do you know kids today are any less educated than the previous generation(s)? Do you have statistics? Anyone?

My main point is this. People tend to remember the era of a previous generation as being better than the current one. That is because we as humans look at the past through a filter of nostalgia. People tend to only remember the good parts about their past, and tend to forget the bad parts. It's never as good as what you remember it to be.

That would be letting your own opinion get in the way of things.

It's the most popular FPS, so that's why kids buy it. It's not a bad game, it's just far from being the best.

I don't play it, but I'll vouch for it.
It may not be an amazing game, but it's certainly not bad.

My main problem with it is that it's nothing innovative each year.

This generation is stupid, so is the previos one and every generation before that. Mankind is overall stupid with very few exceptions. My problem with this generetion though is not really the youths themselves, it's incompetant parenting, the parents are either too strict and controlling, resulting in the child being isolated from reality and never learn to survive in this harsh world on their own, or not strict enough, resulting in douchebags who never learned manners. Where is the balance? However with this reasoning this generation is at fault because their parents generation is at fault, stupidity is inherited.

    Today's Generation?

To be completely honest, there's the overzealous Bieber fans, the spoiled children, and the fact that children these days are exposed to some awful things.
But there is nothing more I can't stand when it comes to "chavs".

Chavs are the uneducated, badly raised, and volatile beings that roam various areas near me, and they really pull on my nerves.
