Derpy Hooves - People are Just Over Reacting Soccer moms always look for excuses to get something banned if it's even remotely offensive. Mainly because they have an overwhelming tendency to keep there children from becoming prejudiced bigots. But the way they've been going about this is so unacceptable, it's driving me nuts. We all remember Derpy Hooves' first role. This delighted a lot of viewers, but moms everywhere were simply outraged. They claimed that it would be offensive for the more "special" watchers of the show. What they didn't know was that their little revolution was the thing that was really prejudiced. Think about it... Every show has had one retard. Spongebob, the main character of his own show, is completely brain dead. I wouldn't be surprised if they started calling him "Bob the Autistic Sponge". A lot of classics also had "slow" characters, such as "Of Mice and Men". Would it be safe to say that this might offend your "special" viewers, moms of the world? They claim that Derpy would offend people with her presence and retarded tendencies. But what they're really saying is that a "slow" character can not be apart of any TV show. If that's so, let's take off every black, Asian, and Mexican, while we're at it. Because a lot of those kinds of characters are portrayed in show with a stereotypical manner. Some people called me a spaz and obsessed for getting outraged at her voice change. But it wasn't about the show or the character, but the fact that there was no other word for it, but "segregation". I'm still mad about what they've done to Derpy. I'll always be one pissed off individual. But I think my reasons are justified well enough. What do you think?
And the way they do that is by being prejudiced bigots themselves...? I no see logic. Still, this Derpy madness has long since passed, and Derpy is still very much a part of the show, and the "edited voice episode" is only on iTunes as far as i know. I say no harm done, forgive and forget.
The fact you made it sound like brain dead and autistic are the same thing ._. Anyway, it is estimated that for every one mother who hated on Derpy, there is about 20 Bronies who loved her. I'm one of the 20.
I'll say this, I didn't like Derpy that much to begin with and the "fans" and all that drama made me hate her. Leaving thread forever now
What boggles my mind is the outrage caused by Derpy and the censorship that followed, when in the VERY SAME SHOW, there's a to-this-day unedited mentally handicapped pony by the name of Snails. I guess it's okay for a guy to be mentally not all there, but not a girl.
Derpy is not! She is just mis-understood and clumbsy. "Oh look. Someone accidently broke something! They are mentally ill!" No.
I never thought Derpy was a retard. She is quite similar though. I think she's just accident prone, and makes mistakes...
I think the Derpy situation was just food for more haters to be born. My friend has a lazy eye and a learning defect, but he loved Derpy. He actually said (And I quote) "Derpy shouldn't be changed, she actually helped me realize that my problems shouldn't hold me back, I should greet each day with a smile, and if something goes wrong know that I can only get better." I swear I was crying before he finished the sentence.
I agree with all of that. Derpy was not meant to be offensive she was awesome, funny and cool. So what are Goofy, Patrick and Billy offensive too or what about Ed from Ed, Edd and Eddy no so why are they making a big deal about Derpy?
How many seasons did Patrick go for? Derpy had like, what... a minute? 2? Patrick had like a solid year?
Never mind the fact that hating a charector because of her stupid fans {Who were the vocul minority} sounds kinda odd to me. Scratch that, it sounds really odd to me, and I still don't get it at all. It just makes no sense to me.
Spongebob has been going on since either 1999 or 2000 as is still going on I can't really remember when it came out but as for the answer to your Derpy question IDK.
I think even if Derpy was viewed as "Mentally Challenged" we should learn to accept her any form she comes in. Its amazing to me how the show pushes love and tolerance of everyone to the viewers of the show, but oh wait.....lets remove the one flaw that sets this pony apart from the others, because shes not normal. I have had friends with disorders, and I always viewed it as a reason to love the person even more, because they're proud of what sets them apart, not depressed or bothered. I can understand why the Hub removed her flaws. Complaints from kids parents, concerned others. When a show is considered offensive, or steroeotypical, views go down. I don't see Derpy's eyes when I look at her. I see a cute little character in the backround on MLP:FIM. They have shown weapons, but they can't show a real life thing that happens.
