Created this cause there was in issue with the comment thread for the new skin, plus the announcement for the thread does not show up for the default skin option. I came on to everypony.com and found this whole new layout, though it is nice, it really messed up how i move around, since i have no idea how to access the portal, the chat rooms, the new posts section, and others. I would ask that you fix the issue of not being able to access the Portal and such. ***EDIT*** i found a way onto the portal, but it was unorthodox. as well, the portal is severely broken. http://www.everypony.com/forums/home.php?pageid=community
i know that. but lets not just leave a broken skin. since this is the default skin, all new members and current members will have trouble navigating. at least give some things the staff can fix to make it better.
First, that's the wrong portal page. This is the right one: http://www.everypony.com/forums/home.php I've temporarily made this default so I may get some more feedback (which clearly is working). I will add a link to the homepage. I was unaware many users liked that page in the first place. You can switch to a different theme with the Style Chooser at the bottom left of the page. Though I hope you will try to use this a bit more and learn it as I'd like this to become the new main theme of the site. I've just fixed the portal issue, it should now point to the correct page. This theme does have New Posts, but it's called Activity Stream (click the Elements of Harmony button on the top left of the top bar)
*sigh....* As I've just previously stated, if you scroll to the bottom of the page, you may change to the other theme.
in all honesty mike, the new posts was perfect the way it was, i only took a slight look, and it looked like the exact same thing as the player activity thing in someones profile. i do not mind the activity stream's layout, but within the skin, its placed very oddly, and the name change doesnt help. i like the idea of having the drop down box, but if its staying this way, then it is very unorganized and i can see a load problems coming. it would have been much easier to just put a notice (you know, one of those yellow bars) that said "new skin! try it out and let us know what you think" not force everyone to use the new skin. And once again, your whole Comment thread is broken. so even if you expected alot of feedback, they wouldn't be able to post anything. as well, it would be negative, even nonconstructive feedback. it's a bit like reorganizing your roommates room without his permission, except its a website.
Well, the thing is. This skin has been available for months now. I would have thought most have seen it by now. I will be announcing it very soon. Along with a proper tutorial. I apologize for jumping the gun.
its bene out for a month? explains why you forced us to use it. but at the same time, you did absolutely nothing to let us know. so its not our fault for such little feedback and reaction. i always keep telling the staff, let us know. you guy seem to just post stuff randomly, thinking we will see it with ease and be all over it. Basically, if you want us to tell you thing, tell us things. If you made a new skin, notify the public on your portal, have a visible option to switch to this new skin. If you have a new competition, notifiy us, post in foxy's blog or somewhere similar that its happening.(i've seen this happening, i am just giving an idea) you need to emphasize on the important things like this.
I still use the winter theme, it's the closest to the cloudsdale one. That was my favorite. You remember that staff advisor thread? If it's been out a month already shouldn't someone have said something. That's what that whole thing was about anyway, telling the users about changes. The staff had a bit of a sting with this actually. Apparently, Grey (Or was it someone else?) wanted to dissolve the older themes and just make there only be one theme (That is supported, anyways.). I use the Winter theme, too. I'd hate to see it go. And the Staff Advisor idea was canned since nobody liked the idea.
Okay, I just tried the new update theme. To much change, I have no idea how to use it. I'll stick with the winter one.
o: i'd really like to ask... is the staff even considering asking the members anything about this new skin? cause so far we've been forced to use a month old skin, which im sure more than 90% of the community did not know about, as well, if you are even expecting feedback without a thread concerning the new skin.(other than this one and the still broken one) i'm interested in learning the features of this new skin, i want to know if anything has changed btw... Which theme are you talking about? If you're talking about the new spring theme, users had the option to beta test it. You can give feedback in the threads dedicated to it. It's a huge change, so that's why the staff didn't force it on anyone.
why am i the only one who seems to be forced to use it! of course i can easily switch to a new one, but if the staff is going to make this new skin permanent, then im going to get what needs to be fixed.
