I'm still not certain on what theme your talking about. Is it the default, spring or new spring one?

Dude, it isn't forced or permanent. The Default theme is "Everypony Network Spring", which is the older one. If you're still being 'forced' clear your cookies because that shouldn't be happening anymore.

They mentioned changing it in your settings page earlier in the thread, silly. X3 <33
But Skyraze, we Beta tested this theme for quite a while to get rid of any problems we were having. We got quite a lot of feedback on it before releasing it and it actually WAS announced to the public via the community post. If one reads the Community Post weekly, it explains the changes that go on around the site. ;D S'kinda why it's there. X3 Secondly, we aren't making any layout permanent, so no need to worry about that one! :D

:I i checked the last 5 community posts and i did not see anything about the new skin.
the only thing concerning the settings was the drop down menu at the bottom left of the site, but that does not work for me. it always switches back after a refresh. i had to do the "profile>settings>general settings" thing.

Which is funny you had the problem of "having the new layout" because I had a problem where the updated layout kept reverting back to the older one. ^^; Personally I like this new one, and I'd hate for it to change since I've had no problems with it no matter where I am (and no matter what computer I'm using) but I do understand preference. And I know there was an announcement about it, perhaps it was an actual announcement versus an actual community post. Either way we had a giant banner that was like 'NEW LAYOUT UPDATE' and the like, so it's not like we went "BAM" this is your layout, deal with it. X3

OK so basically i was told that i didn't give enough explanation... imho you coulda just told me you needed more from the beginning.

Issue #1: There is no way to the portal other than the nav bar. You know the bar at that shows "Everypony>Forums>subforum>etc." clicking Everypony is the only way to get to the portal. And yes, it has a lot of traffic. you need to put a home or portal link at the top next to Forum, Blogs, and Radio.

Issue #2: The activity stream replacing the New Post, IMO, was not a good idea. The Activity stream is very unorganized, and the General chat thread kills it. Stick with the new posts page, its easier to explore and less tasking.

Issue#3: the Chat Room button being placed in the drop down menu is an odd place, especially for one fo the main part of EP. It should be placed at the top like the rest (Forums, Blogs, Radio).

(resolved)Issue #4: The link for the Everypony button on the navbar is broken. instead of ending in /forums/home.php(?) it ended with something like PageID=1H%2k etc.

(resolved most likely)Issue #5: I've found a difference between choosing 'The default ep theme" and the new spring update (when they were the same). In the spring update theme, there was a notification bar saying thanks for trying the new theme and a link to a broken thread(which is still broken). in the default, it wasn't there.
