Summer Olympics 2012 came to an end last weekend. What were you favorite things in the olympics? Favorite runner? Favorite equestrian? Favorite country? (Won't lie, I live in the US but I was rooting for Russia in gymnastics @_@) Favorite medal win? Favorite olympian in general? What sport do you find to be the silliest in terms of being an olympic sport? (You have to admit... artistic gymnastics makes you go "how is this olympic related?"). Share your thoughts! I'd LOVE to hear what type of sports you are all into, usually all you hear about is soccer, [american] football, baseball, basketball and, on occasion, hockey! Rarely talk about gymnastics, running (like a Zephski~), swimming or anything of that sort! X3 [edit] I OBVIOUSLY CANNOT SPELL TODAY.
I didn't really follow the olympics, since Belgium plainly sucks at every event. So i'll just leave this here instead. :Trollestia:
First of all, i cared nothing much for the Olympics if I am honest. Too much Commercialism. Second: Jamaica won Bronze, Silver and Gold in one of the running. Judo: I was facepalming. One of the biggest rules in Judo is to NEVER touch the face, at all. Chinese woman kept slapping the french one trying to grip Velodrome quite impressed me. Conoeing, they missed quite a few of the posts/ gates. @.@ Overall: One of the better olympics, but I still did not care much. Fav country? Jamaica. They owned in the race.
Fencing is too cool. I want to try it now. Seeing the horses run around and jump was also awesome....though I wonder who gets the medal, the horse or the rider? XD Oh, and Usain Bolt! I don't care how much of a show-boater he is, Bolt is awesome.
Rarit E is running Farah-way~ xP @RAda: <_< >_> I agree... @Darkshine: Yeah... gotta wonder about some of the rules and talents in some of the events. I love watching Jamaicans race... maybe cause I adore the accents when they're interviewed... @_@ accents.... @Danvid Memes! Memes everywhere!
I have a couple questions on sports being in the Olympics, such as 'Speed walking' for instance, just one of those things that makes one go, "Why the hell is that in the Olympics?!". But overall it was a great Olympiad, espically the ending ceremony's Monty Python part, that made me lol so hard! And when you support America, it starts to become one of those, "Oh look, another medal." thing.
Favourite sport: Fencing/Badminton/Archery. Favourite athlete: Mo Farah (naturally). Least favourite athlete: Tom Daley. Least favourite sport: Diving. Favourite personality: Boris Johnson. Favourite voice: The presenter who could easily switch between a British and French athlete (ET JE SUIS LE GRAND BRITAINSUISSE EAU D'HOMME BORIS JOHNSON!) Favourite part of the opening ceremony: COUNTRIES. Least favourite part of the opening ceremony: MUSIC. And let's hope Rio does just as good.
Rupp winning the Silver medal for the United States in the 10,000 Meter. Finally we get on the board for distance running 8D Oh, the fact the first place runner was his best friend was a little tearjerking, especially when you saw how happy they were to come in neck and neck.
The US getting team silver in men's archery was amazing and Italy beat us on the last shot too... I spent a few days watching the team equestrian stuff. The cross country course was great, I wasted a few days at work watching the horses run and jump around. :derpe: And the online streams were so much better than the network coverage. The American announcers were horrid on TV.
best part? Rowan Atkinson at opening ceremony best sport? Waterpolo Favorite country? no one in particular, maybe Croatian athletes when they were competing, or little countries. Most annoying moment? Channel 9's opening ceremony broadcast (they missed half of countries because they were chowing Australian athletes just standing there and doing nothing) Favorite Athlete? That South African swimmer that took gold in 100 butterfly, beating Phelps. Seems like he really wanted it. Favorite moments 2? Being in London during Olympics (and meeting Foxy and Tyro). Now for Sochi 2014, first games where snowboard and free ski slopestlye will be part of it, meaning world's best snowboarders and free skiiers on the olypmics.
^YES! I hated how they never showed anything live. Then I get spoiled whenever I'm online. Thank goodness for streams.
America winning of course :Trollestia: but yeah after seeing that indecent with that little %^&$head 15 year old timekeeper in woman's fencing who screwed Korea at a gold medal shot, i can no longer see the Olympics as anything other then a ymca event http://1045theteam.com/american-tv-neglected-the-saddest-story-in-the-olympics/
