Today, during the long car ride from France to Holland, I first began tulpaforcing, starting the creation process of Spick's personality.

In the beginning I visualised her having the pony-like body I'd like her to have in the end. But once I created her, this body almost instantly started warping and spasming out in unnatural ways. It kind of makes sense, considering I haven't done any effort visualizing the body yet. It's bound to happen when you give a body to a thoughtform that would like to move, without explaining to it how the body is supposed to move, how the muscles work etc.

So I decided that, while I'm still building the personality, it's beter to visualize Spick as an abstract orb-like entity. It started off as a gold-coloured diamond thing. After some more work on her personality it shifted to a silver diamond, and just now it became a glowing white orb. This last shape she's taken on feels a lot more comfortable to me than the former two. I feel I've already established some kind of early bond with this thoughtform.

I know there hasn't been a lot research on the subject of tulpas, and it's all pretty new to modern science. Yet still I'm not really concerned about any negative mental consequences doing this might have. It all feels pretty natural to me.

It stays there, the only bad thing is never getting rid of it...

It's funny, reading this intrigued me until you said it was hard. I've basically done this for the past 8 years of my life - almost to the very day. Dan did have a point about it being what a good roleplayer can do, though I do know that every roleplayer does not create what has been called, apparently, a tulpa. Yet, I have my own separate entities in my head, various ones, actually. Each one with their own beliefs and set of moral rules (if any moral rules at all). Their fully developed personalities and a lot of times handle things differently then I do in certain situations. Yet you say it's hard, but for me it doesn't take long at all. Some are even sudden and almost 'out of the blue'. *blinks* So, how does that work? ><

So far, I have been doing well, but do you have any sources for help? It's pretty easy if you have done so before for those to get lost among the posts.

Interesting. I have a slightly different method for Tulpaforcing. I haven't thought of a form, but I have a name for him (Denzo. It's quite the catchy name). When I do my Tulpaforce, I first write down the traits I want to give my Tulpa. I create a list of reasons why he has (x) trait and what it does for his judgement, personality, ideals, etc. After that, I sort of imagine him in front me, and I'm basically feeding him everything I've written down. I've heard that personality is tons more important than form when it comes to creating a Tulpa. For now, I'm not getting any definite shape for what he might look like but I feel and imagine him being there, in front of me, absorbing all these traits. When I'm done with my tulpaforcing, I imagine all the traits merging together, into a sort of glob or ball, and then those being put into the tulpa.

    @Danvid

Although it's extremely hard to kill a Tulpa, I heard it is possible. I read from a website that exposing your Tulpa to the waning moon will pretty much destroy it, and the object is to make a Tulpa that is immune to dying this way. There is no real truth to it though, but it's nice to know it's a possibility.

A waning moon kills it? Yea, maybe if you made it that way. Oh, and I find this extremely similar to a Calvin and Hobbes scenario, only there isn't even a stuffed animal in this case.

    Hmm...sounds like schizophrenia.

Remember kids, it's ok to talk to imaginary friends, but when they start talking back is when you should be worried. ::S:

Dude, trying to kill the imaginary friend who you can already interact with using all five senses seems like it would be a REALLY bad idea.

You would actually be surprised. After you make your tulpa, it slowly changes itself in terms of appearance, personality, and any other senses you can imagine. Just like people, Tulpas will never stay quite the same.

Yes, but when we speak of killing it, we mean eradicating it from our minds, right? If I'm "killing" my tulpa, then I'm snuffing out the faux-sentient being sharing brain-space with my primary personality. Now, if these things are even half as clever as people are making them out to be, they would probably try to stop this. The natural reaction from a sentient creature who is in danger of dying is to fight back, right?

Or would your tulpa have no problem with this because it intuitively empathizes with you on every level, no matter how base your intentions?

I've read that trying to have sex with a tulpa, however that's supposed to work, can lead to... uh, bad things, which would imply that you can't just do anything you want to a tulpa. Which wouldn't surprise me, really. Supposedly attempting to use lucid dreams for the purpose of sexual fantasy usually ends up making the dream spin nightmarishly out of control.

I gotta admit, this is all extremely interesting. Having a virtually permenant companion could actually be good for the pyshe, imaginary or not, for there will be a time in our lives we are alone and basically trying to not be, there will always be the sentient tulpa to help you along. But I see one problem with it, sure it may be a product of your mind, but privacy man, privacy.

I was reading a description of how the tulpa generally works. It said "...your tulpa will not freak out every time you [censored]." I suppose you'd have to forcibly put the trait of freaking out over that into it for it to happen.

Give it the trait that it needs sleep and mentally inject it with an anesthetic when you don't want it around?

I'll be honest, I would be totally fine with that. As long as Sips doesn't have some kind of weird fetish...like peoples' spines being ripped out...
