    Ah! Finally back on line!

Having a new computer is great, but when you have a bad habit of not writing down passwords and relying on the computer to remember them, it gets to be a hassle.

Now - Write down *all* the passwords!

That is why I use easy to remember yet hard to guess patterns.

I used to use variations on a theme I have, and still do a little, but now all my passwords are pony related with a few numbers thrown in randomly. Oh, and an occasional Transformer reference thrown in for confusion.

I like to use a short sentence or phrase that describes the site I am joining, or something about the site that sticks out. I know that would sound kind of hard to remember, but in reality it isn't, at least for me anyway.

And hi everyone. It's been awhile since I've posted in this thread.

Hi Mike! I've been gone a while too, part computer problems, part life. Ugh.

Any ways, that's an interesting idea you have. Not sure I could do it, not out of memory. Could leave hints, I suppose. I used to use a lot of mythology, back when I first got on the internets, 15 years ago (!) Then I went through a phase where I used things I didn't like, on the idea that if some one snuck in my house, and he knew some things about me, he'd be able to guess my passwords. But, of course, those were harder for me to remember.

I use completely made-up words for my passwords, they work best. :p

Well, it does if you can remember them. Which I guess you can.

Hah, phrases that you don't like. That's pretty good actually. And yeah, the sentence thing works well, if it can be remembered, but can be very annoying and cumbersome when trying to sign in on my phone. But I only use it for my most important accounts. Remembering a unique sentence for EVERYTHING would suck. :p

The other problem with using things that I don't like: If people found out my password was "I Love Justin Bieber," it would be awkward.

PS - I didn't use this, just an example. JB wasn't around when I went through this phase.

Ah, poo. Time to go to work. See y'all later.
