    General Myers-Briggs thread

    Hai everypony,

So after months of inactivity I decided to give good old everypony a lurk again (probably because I really should be doing math right now),
and spotted this interesting-looking thread concerning mbti's INTJ personality type. Now I've been getting really interested in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator over the last few months. Soooo... inspiration struck, and my math homework will have to wait a little longer.

I wanted to open a general thread concerning MBTI things. So maybe post about your own type, and things you've learned about yourself due to the MBTI. There's also a lot of cool motivational posters out there that can be shared. Learn from each other, and value our differences!

So that aside, am I the only INFP dreamer/idealist here? To be honest, around this forum I've always felt a bit surrounded by more rational-minded people than myself. And as the previously mentioned thread reveals, there actually are quiete a lot of INTJ's and INTP's around here.

~ MBTI thread are go! ~

I misspelled the thread title. You have permission to burn me.

Oh jeez, now I'm gonna have to take a personality test again...

I dunno, last time I took it I got ISTJ, although it used to be INTJ. Although when I got ISTJ it was marginal between judging and perceiving, and the ISTJ description was almost totally spot on but not quite, so I may be a ISTP.

Damn...now I'm curious. Off to take some more internet tests....

^ Might help to do some reseach on the different outcomes you get, and decide for yourself which type you are. A test can't possibly know you better than you know yourself.

True, true. Although, everyone is different and no one person is going to fit perfectly under any one label or personality type, not to mention the duality of human nature leads us to have many contradictory personality aspects regardless.

So this is all rather pointless as I may never find one type that perfectly fits me, I can only get close. Which is what the test is for.

Also...I'm too lazy for all that reading. xD

Alright, I understand. Myself, I feel like I fit perfectly within the INFP profile. But of course there must be plenty of people who don't feel like they smoothly fit into one of these profiles. After all, they are just rough shapes to simplify the infinitly complex structure of one's personality holy moly I'm so proud of this sentence.

Hehhe ;3 I started the INTJ thread. Should be interesting to lurk around this one to see other personality types. I was actually surprised how many INTJs there are on here- Apparently the type is rare. What's also interested me is the relationship between western zodiac and MBTI. I'm a scorpio INTJ and apparently a lot of INTJs are scorpios... o.o hrrrmmm

I love to think/fantasize about the general idea of things and what could be possible, but I wouldn't waste my time actually pursuing it unless I thought the execution of the idea is both feasible and likely.

every time I've solve one of those tests, every time I've got ESFJ (The Caregiver) (Cheerilee)
in the description ( http://www.personalitypage.com/ESFJ.html ) it's almost all correct (I've just noticed 1 or 2 things that are not like me).
interesting how i'm one of few people here that's Extroverted.

I just found the most amazing site for this.

    http://www.personalitypathways.com/type_inventory.html

It's not a test, it just tells you what each letter means, gives you examples of each then you choose one. Now I know what my personality type actually is. ISFP.

I've read the description, and it fits exactly, but in a weird way, like I never realized those things were true about me until now.

If you haven't already seen this page perhaps this might help you decide which one you most closely fit. http://www.personalitypage.com/html/portraits.html

    @SunBurn

Apparently INTP is like INTJ but without the 'venom'. I've been doing some hardcore research this past week so improve my characters in my novel and be able to summarise them (in a way). Just thought I'd add my tidbit of info.

Venom? Results put myself between INTP and INTJ. Could you explain what that means?

    @ Sunburn and Mike

Well that's how I'd personally describe it, anyway. xP I have two characters which have some conflict between them due to a personality clash. One is an INTJ (see my avvie) and the other is an INTP. The INTJ and INTP clash because of a misunderstanding between their J and P signs, and the situation they are in for the majority of the book I'm writing tends to call on these 'preferences' to be used in order to survive mentally. Because of the differing ways they cope with the situation and with grief, misunderstandings arise. The INTJ is more likely to be 'short' in response, snappy and will attack with all her might if accused of being void of sensitivity. The INTP shrugs, tells the plain truth and moves on even though they are broken inside. The INTJ is more likely to carry the INTP in argument and is more likely to inflame the argument just for the hell of screaming at someone to rid herself of built up anger. The INTP doesn't always start the argument but when he does, it's because he has criticised her (and usually it is not serious criticism).

Not sure if my textwall helps. Will have to look back on notebook for more notes. xD

Thanks, that's definitely more helpful. While the test results put me as INTJ more-so than INTP, I definitely would fit as INTP following your descriptions.

    Oh, hehe, my bad.

Eh, I don't really know how to pinpoint it. xP I'd just say that INTJs seem to come out with guns and tanks in an argument. hahaha

Dude, ISFP's are awesome. At first I thought I was one, but the Sensing part doesn't really make sense for me. :p
Though I don't know you that well yet, I think it fits you. So are you creative in any way?

Nontheless we love having you around Yeti, we need a few extroverts to spark up the place. :p

Looking at the thread and doing the test and looking at the star signs of intj's and I saw that theres a very little amount of sagittarius people with INTJ like me.
