You tell me. I think they are one in the same. Only the humanization splits the 2 apart in my eyes.

My opinion: Does it really matter? Some people think ill of us already and some people like us. What we call ourselves would make little difference. Whether I'm a brony or furry or whatever, it doesn't make me enjoy MLP less.

This is quite true. Depending on how one defines a 'brony', a lot of us are just merely fans of the show.

What about underlying ideals and ideas underneath the aesthetics? I believe Furry to be too general a genre to be able to point towards anything specific to that just by having that look. Brony works on the other hand have the ideas of the show to work from at it's roots. Does anyone know of anything that uses them as part of the aesthetic for an effect?

Furries are people who have a liking for humanistic animals. Whether if its standing up on two, talking, or acting with personalities. What seperates bronies from furries is that furries don't care what the art style is, they don't care the shape or colors.. 90% furries care about the n part of sfw, as in they like accurate visualizations of said animals. Bronies have their own style of artistry, their own style of music, their own style of talking and communicating. furries that like ponies don't have to like mlp, they like the accurate visualizations of them, with longer bodies and better snouts.

guess which is a pony pic and which is a brony pic.

Even other sites say that bronies are different from furries. in the furry fandom, people who like ponies are called ponies. people who like MLP: FiM are bronies.

    Bronies /= furries
Bronies are on their own level. the only similarity with bronies and furries are that mlp ponies can talk.

    According to Wikipedia:

    [/SUP]
Since our ponies exhibit human intelligence, the ability to speak and ocassionally wear clothes, you could classify us as furries. Bronies also gather on the internet and conventions too.

Depends on what you consider a furry as.

Thinking about it. I wouldn't say that we're a part of the furry fandom. That would imply that all bronies are into what other furries like, which is incorrect.

I think that we're separate. While there are part that are overlapping, I'm certain that bronies overlap with many other fandoms as well.

i feel like my post got ignored. either way, the furries like what they like because of the artwork, their personal likes for animals, and others. bronies like MLP:FiM becuase of the show. While some rather like the art, some also like the show. there is no real show that goes along with the furry fandom. there really is nothing holding up the furry fandom. mlp holds us up. While you can say lion king holds the furry fandom up, it does. lion king holds up its fans. Those who like lion king don't have to be considered furries, just like those who like mlp don't have to be considered one either.

I'm gonna have to say no on this one. Reason with me if you like but I disagree. The idea of being a branch of the furry fandom does sound reasonable.

they like the show because the ponies seem to be so human. The animal in question doesn't need to be anthro to seem human like.

the furries are held up by pretty much anything that has an animal in it. Just animals in general.

I'm not gonna call people that enjoy Lion King or MLP furries. Would a little kid even know what that is? No I don't think so. Now when people start making OCs for lion king and getting deeper into it's fandom, I could see them as furries.

now I can see where you could overlap them. Instead of like mking them a sub group.

on more thing. Renamon. I'm not sure how this works, arw digimon really animals. Either way Renamon.

"The furry fandom is a subculture interested in fictional anthropomorphic animal characters with human personalities and characteristics. Examples of anthropomorphic attributes include exhibiting human intelligence and facial expressions, the ability to speak, walk on two legs, and wear clothes. Furry fandom is also used to refer to the community of people who gather on the Internet and at conventions." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Furry_fandom

"Anthropomorphism or personification is any attribution of human characteristics (or characteristics assumed to belong only to humans)" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthropomorphism

    Sorry guys, we're Furries.

It's only the truth, why be ill-advised? As long as you know that you're not as extreme as most others, you can have clarity in knowing that you're not an extremist furry (And There IS a fine line between Sexual Affinity and Interest in Animal Anthromorphs.)

Meh, Simply ignorance of what those words meant. I don't blame anyone... It happens.

Especially since Media has deemed it fit to focus on Furries being Sick Animal Loving (Preferably the sexual side.) freaks.

which is the only reason people want to avoid that title. Just for the record, the word brony is heading down the same path.
