Thank you for agreeing with me. Well, I guess it's my turn to ride through the storm. Thank goodness your alright, Zephyr
After all, Everypony equal, everypony loved. I love that saying. In fact, instead of that proposed pony tattoo I was thinking of getting, I might get something like 'Everybody equal, everybody loved' across my back or something.
Don't worry about me. I'll be alright! I just want other bronies to be safe. If you guys are okay, then I'll be fine.
Thank you so much for sharing this, Zephyr. I really do like videos like this because it gives me a better perspective of what's going on in those areas. Now that I have a better idea of where you live, I can see that the majority of it was to your east, which puts me at ease knowing you didn't experience the brunt of the storm. I've been monitoring Irene since about 11 AM EDT this morning and have been keeping my Facebook friends from New Jersey abreast of the situation. Most of them appear to be taking it seriously, and a family member that lives right along the shore has evacuated, which is good news. Anyone that's actually still on the shore now is just asking for trouble because as any of us Jersey shore natives know (I grew up in that area), Long Beach Island is notorious for flooding, even from just heavy rain. So the combined impacts of rain, wind and storm surge... it's not looking good. My parents live inland, so my concerns with them are the winds, debris, the possibility of falling trees and an isolated tornado. They've decided to ride out the storm. They're not under a mandatory evacuation, unlike the shore. Some of my FB friends, however, are being a little complacent and saying things like "Bring it on!" and "I don't think it's going to be bad." This worries me. There have already been some deaths from the storm (from falling trees) and that truly upsets me because if they only listened to the forecasters it could've been prevented. My heart goes out to the families that lose loved ones because it's such an awful tragedy. Damage can be repaired, but lives cannot be replaced. If anyone here is in the path of the storm, take it seriously! I cannot emphasize this enough! You may not get the worst of the storm, but don't underestimate this hurricane. It can, and already has, claimed lives so far. On another note, if anyone else can take videos, by all means post them here and/or send me a private message, because I really like seeing video footage from those that are actually there. However, make sure you are safe when doing so. It's not worth risking your life! I know that's hypocritical advice, because I go out during thunderstorms to take video sometimes, but being a future meteorologist, I feel I'm kinda obligated to do so. It comes with the interest. Anyway, for those that are in it now, or will be, stay safe! Take it seriously! Also, if you want, share a video, or stories. Maybe someone, or myself, can make a thread for it later after the storm is gone. I don't know how much discussion would come from that since the member population on Everypony is globally distributed and I don't know how many USA residents are here that are affected by Irene.
Thanks for sharing that ePONYmous, even though my city didn't get the worst, there were still some injuries and even a death. Never underestimate something like this. I hope your loved ones stay safe ePONYmous!
I actually live on and near the long island sound. It was weird this morning because everything looked so eerie. We got inland, though, so I think I'm alright. I'm glad you didn't get hit THAT hard. I still worried, though, no matter how clam or peaceful it may seem. And I also love the breeze of the wind, it's so calming as it hits you. Nice name choice by the way. Anyway, I'm happy everypony is alright. I have yet to brave my part of the storm. XD
I have family that lives on Long Island as well, so I'm watching out for them too. Stay safe, Affection!
Yeah, no problems here where I am. It's mainly cloudy (which is from Irene). I've even seen some breaks of sunshine! It's warm too. It's 77ºF now. I don't expect much here, maybe some enhanced breezes later on with a threat of a shower or thundershower. I notice there is a heavy shower just to my east now. Nothing major. The bulk of it should be to my east in eastern PA and Philly.
That's good! I'm just getting some showers and such before it starts to blow right through. And yes, I'm in a safe place right now. No need to worry
Well, speaking of, I just had a brief tropical downpour. It didn't even last very long. Less than a minute. That's probably the extent of the rain I'll experience from this.
Hurricane Irene just walked by Florida with nothing but rain. Hope you guys up North are alright as well.
I've coined a new word; it's called "Proculterraphobia". In other words, I'm terrified of the Far Lands!!! Just imagine - I could walk millions and millions of miles... and one day I look up... and see a huge wall of rock, with massive holes in it.... things stretching and distorting.... and Minecraft getting overly choppy and slow! AAGH! :ahh: Now try telling me I'm not the only one who's Proculterraphobic?!
@Frank, I guess I've never made it that far to the end of a mine craft world. Watching people flip out over the little hurricane in Maryland. So far it's only rain.
