You know, It's very amusing just how near sighted and uneducated People have become. Even in Britain's dark age philosophy was well respected. Not to mention it was synonymous it science. Sent from my Transformer
Sparky, it does appear you have been repeating by accident what I have posted for the past two times.
Okay then. Define philosophy. No google, no wiki, go ahead; What is philosophy? EDIT; Good 10 minutes, No response. I take my leave. Sent from my Transformer
Philosophy, Definition A: A form of thought ex: Socrates lead his own form of philosophy Definition B: A ancient, antiquated method of explaining how the world works Ex: The one known as greyOne believed philosophy was a proper way of defining our world, when it is no longer so.
Incorrect. Why? Because the question I posed was in itself A philosophical question. Much like "Does god exist?" or "Why does evil exist if god is omnipotent and omnibenevolent?" Or simply "Do we have free will?" A philosophical question is one that cannot be Answered by any sensory means. It is not something we can experience to find the answer of. Thus we can derive that philosophy Is a way of answering - or at least considering possibilities to - These questions. If philosophy were no longer relevant, That would imply that no such questions exist; That all questions may be answered by an experience or By prior knowledge. Such is clearly not the case. That would also mean logic is no longer relevant. Which seems to be the case with some to follow, presently.
Here's my philosophy: If someone asks if I'm a Christian, I say "define Christian". If you mean trying to live the way Jesus taught people to live (Love your neighbor, do unto others, don't judge, etc), then yes, I'm a Christian. But if you mean what we have for Christianity now, then no, I want nothing to do with that. In practice, I'm a Pagan, though I'm more spiritual then religious. If someone asks what God I believe in, I say "all of them", because the fact of the matter is, while I believe a Divine Spirit definitely exists, I also believe that no one really knows what it is. By the same token, while I believe that there is some sort of afterlife (ghosts don't come from nowhere, after all), again, no one really knows what it is, so all we can do is take each day as it comes, try our best to live a good life and try not to worry about what comes after.
I would like to point out, I said philosophy was a form of thought, and what you essessentially just did was deny I was right, then proceed to back up my statement.
An incomplete thought or definition is as incorrect As an incomplete question on a math test. Sent from my Transformer
Oh, I can be quite reasonable, when I'm stuck between half asleep and awake strangely enough. - - Auto Merge - - You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. That is essessentially what I just heard, which FYI, is a philosophical statement in it's own right.
I'd like to point out you did nothing To refute any of my points. Therefore they still stand. Sent from my Transformer
And there goes the last little bit of reasonableness and caring I had for the night. Goodbye. I need to recharge.
