Rather than write these for each of my Role-Playing Threads, I figured I'd put them here. As a means of laying some ground rules, I came up with a short list that is subject to change. Going against my rules while I am the GM can mean a number of things. From increased difficulty, to flat out demise of character. We don't want that. Rule One: The GM's Word is Law A simple rule. As easy as table-top gaming. What your GM says goes. Rule Two: Keep the Posting Field Even This is incredibly important. You and the other players are not against one another, you are on the same team. This means you need to let them have their chances as well. We've all got lives. I've got a job and a fiance, so that's like two jobs there. By keeping it even I mean... don't post more than twice if all you're doing is playing back and forth with one or two of your party members. It makes other ponies feel left out, and RP inadequate, and I'm sure none of you want to make other ponies feel bad. Time doesn't pass in the RP if you let it go and check back tomorrow. Rule Three: Results Are Determined by Your GM Remember who your GM is. Having a GM means it is not free-form, and also means that all of the results of your actions are determined by your GM. This will happen for... really anything that affects a character other than your own during your action. Mind Control is often not automatic. Choking somepony usually comes with resistance. Pushing an object heavier than half your body mass may require a strength check. Aiming a weapon takes control and there's a bit of chaotic element involved. Point is, do not resolve actions yourself. Let your GM resolve them. Rule Four: You Only Control You Important! Unless your GM has given you control of a second character, then any actions from somepony else are not yours to determine! The GM controls all the NPCs. Rule Five: Don't Be Afraid to Ask If there's something you are unsure of in the game, then ask in the OOC thread associated with the RP. Don't run on faith when you want to do an action that you're not sure if you can do it. Ask me first. Rule Six: Something, Something, Playing on Everypony Yes, the site has rules too. Make sure you've read them. Friendly GMs, feel free to link my rules if you'd just like to use them rather than type them out time and time again.
But what of torches? You just have to chase people out with pitchforks AND torches, you can't have one or the other! It's just not right!
That's true... Oh, well. I doubt we will need them, and if we do, Sparky has a ton of both, last I checked.
I love how you said... "I've got a job and a fiance, so that's like two jobs there. ". That made me smile.
