Normally, when people think about the word "Conspiracy", it is correlated to a group of men who have evil plots to screw over the world. But what actually is Conspiracy? Is it really as bad as what our society portrays it to be?

What goes through your mind when you hear the word "Conspiracy"? In my opinion, I think the word is largley misunderstood. Conspiracy always seems to be tied with the word 'theory', which automatically deems such an idea as not exactly true. But suppose there is enough evidence to prove that it's not only a theory, but also fact. Can it still be called a Conspiracy 'Theory', or can it be Factual Conspiracy? Allow me to give an example:

In the days of the romans, there was a great conspiracy to kill the ruler Julius Caesar. We know this as fact: People plotted, plan, thought out, and executed their actions. There is no "theory", it is simply fact. So, at this point, can we call it a conspiracy?

Post your comments about the word "Conspiracy" here. This is not a thread to talk about Conspiracy THEORIES, but rather how the word is viewed in our society today.

For me when I hear the word Conspiracy, I immediately think, a bunch of theories about something, most of the conspiracies I've heard in the past are absolute rubbish, but there are probably like you said a few factual ad true conspiracies out there, I just haven't heard of any yet.

When I hear "conspiracy", I think of a theory. It doesn't have to be true, just a sort of explanation to something.

When I hear 'Conspiracy', two things pop in my head: Plotting against the current power to replace it, and crazy rednecks and trailer park trash people that have too much time on their hands and not enough education to spend it productively.

When I hear conspiracy, I think of a plot spanning many people, often organizations as well, to control information and get people to hear what they want them to hear.

^How on earth did you know I'd pop up here Yami~? ;)

    Kidding, it was obvious.

Conspiracy theories. Controversial opinions on what happened through history or from some major attack like Pearl Harbor, Hiroshima or 9/11.
I believe that it's any alternative perspective that isn't the set belief of media and the majority.

But about the word Conspiracy itself? a plot (Durrhurr) to cause something...(Like the above incidents.) and blame it on somebody else. Like blaming 9/11 on middle eastern terrorists or blaming the Japanese for Pearl Harbor.

    Brief because lazy and drawing.

When I hear the word conspiracy theory or conspirator, I think of an individual who probably has a mild to severe case of austism.

Oh, and also someone who is inept in the art of being rational.

Conspiracy usually just means, to me anyway, some form of secret plan.

Conspiracy theories usually describe a secret plan.
Conspiring against someone? Secret planning something against someone.
Conspiring to rob a bank? Best know that's a secret plan to rob a bank.

    Words.

Who said rationality had to be exclusive to more typical topics?

When I hear "conspiracy" I usually think of hippies to be honest. I also think of 2 companies or corporations working with each other to screw over clients and customers. I say that because I nearly got my butt sued last year as a result of this.

I have a lot of theories....

Based on facts.Pesticides in food reduce IQ. Government uses that to control the people.

Schools use kids with problem to test psychoactive drugs.

    Things like that.

When I think of conspiracy I think of the word trust. It is the thing I try not to give out easily. I do not trust many people in real life, because I am afraid of being plotted against. Conspiracy to me, is the breaking of trust. It does not seem conspiring if you never knew who was plotting against you. In my mind, unfortunately, I am paranoid and I always think I am being conspired against, so I don't think I can give an accurate assumption. Thank you all for reading my opinion.

A conspiracy today is viewed as something that hides things from public knowledge in order for a small group to gain something at the public's expense. At least, that what one should say if they aren't illiterate.

Ask anyone in my town they'll say, "Guh, Obama is trying to rob us."

Conspiracy theroy. The way I see it, it's a theory supported with somewhat shaky to down right false facts. Like most of the JFK assassination theories. However, that doesn't make it inherently wrong. It simply means that for most people, it seems somewhat far fetched.

I think about aliens, 9/11, plane crashes, special ops. Them being the biggest forerunners that pass through my head, although when it comes to conspiracies I believe it to be information withheld from a certain audience to purposely avoid revealing the truth behind why something has happened, whether that be for malicious or safety driven intent towards them.

To me, a conspiracy is a theory, or a plan. I think many people view it that way.
