Well, like I said... I need backgrounds. 'Cause that's really not my thing. The scene setup is going to be a lot like Welcome to Ponyville, except when inside of explore-able locations and stuff. So of course talking ponies need art, too, (and I ain't up to doing all of them, y'know?) Once we get scripts up, we'll see what the best method of intake is.
A little bit of insight on what I'm doing with characters. You'll be able to choose a name, type, and voice, but we went over that part. I'm working on stats. The system that we're using has 6 pre-defined stat variables that I don't mind using. Attack, Defense, Magic, Magic Defense, Agility, and Luck... Of course, I renamed this to; Strength, Resilience, Mind, Heart, Speed, and Luck. It all scales upwards with level, so I'm working on a base calculation system to base everything off of. So far, at least, I've come up with a method for the main stats: One starts at 20, and ends at 200. One starts at 10, and ends at 100. Two start at 16, and end at 160. Two start at 13, and end at 130. Rounded characters are an exception. It's three at 16 and three at 13. In the example of the Unicorn Mage, they have 10 Strength, 13 Resilience, 20 Mind, 16 Heart, 13 Speed, and 16 Luck to start. There's also Health and Energy to be concerned about. The formula for that's easy though. Defensive characters get more health and less energy. Skill-based characters get more energy and less health. Rounded/support characters get a middle-grounded amount.
Class Ideas: What'cha Think? Pony Guard Pony Charger (Warrior) Pony Mugger Pony Farmer (Support) Pegasus Guard Pegasus Warrior Pegasus Thief Pegasus Racer Unicorn Guard Unicorn Mage Unicorn Friend (Support Mage) Unicorn Dominator (Control Mage) Alicorn Foal Ehh? What'cha think? I'd want at least one face for each for each gender. Not that pony faces are all that hard to draw.
Hee hee...I was just reading through the From the Edge of the Universe story to find one of my lines to use to test my voice acting, and I found a random mistake that Quill and I and everypony else must have missed: Question 1: “Finish this statement: ‘Cross my heart and hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my…’what?” Mind: 14 + 3 = 17 You buzz in just before Sweetie Belle with the correct answer: “Cupcake.” Everypony knows the Pinkie Pie Swear, even those not from Ponyville. I don't know how we missed it. xD Also, here's my go at voice acting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GY5lqWIHztE My voice is not exciting.
I'd be interested in trying my hand at voice acting! Never done it, but I am an amateur singer. Of course that's not entirely related, but I am pretty familiar with my own voice. I mean what's the worst that could happen? I don't do well and you move onto someone else? Sent from my DROID3 using Tapatalk 2
HAHAHAHA!!! I think I meant, "stick a 'what' in my eye. I my defense, I was at work at the time that I posted that. I was probably distracted.
Hey, I can't be saying anything. I missed it too. xD PS: When I started reading your post, I thought you were laughing at my voice acting, LOL
I'm completely untrained and only spend my free time recording things here and there. What is that if not amateur? XD I'm certainly not a professional. Sent from my DROID3 using Tapatalk 2
I liked your voice acting sample. You sound a lot like Thealexrice, a guy who reads ponyfics on Youtube.
Just need to make your voice stronger in my opinion. It sounds summoned, rather than natural. Otherwise, it's great.
Any of the art ponies up for trying an 800 x 600 backdrop of Ragnarok with the words "Lady of Dreams" written over it? You know... since when it comes to backgrounds, I could go and... eat a pot of eggs.
......... What? Wait, what? ... Never let me judge voice acting samples, okay? :derpe: Anyways, thanks guys. I don't know what Ragnarok is... I mean, I know about the mythological event, if that's what you mean, but I get the feeling that's not what you mean.
"Ragnarok" is what I call The Frozen North. Where the windigoes live, and the location of Dream Castle. It's a snow-covered wasteland. Makes sense to me. MLP borrows from Greek mythology, so why not Norse, too?
