Snow's RP about multiple universes made me wonder whether you guys would like a multiverse put in place here? The idea is simple...ish: We would create a version of Equestria (or wherever - it could be somewhere entirely different) that is universal. All RP's based in this universe would then exist within the same version of Equestria. This would then mean that all characters present within these sub-RPs would exist within the same universe to. There could even be a possibility of having characters wonder through other RPs as part of yet another RP altogether. Each sub-RP contribute to a much larger, over-arching one. Think of The Avengers where all these other films then build up a continuity to tie themselves together into The Avengers. They intermingle. Does this interest anypony?
Yeah, but... Equestria is a country... We don't even know what the rest of the world is like. The only clues are a few arrows that point in different directions of the map edges. East is "Yonder to Griffons," and South East is "Dragons Be Here." That's the official map, anyway. Sure, there's the fan map of "the known world," but it's quite mixed up. It's like they didn't even reference Granny Smith's map from the Zap Apple Jam episode. Actually, I had an interesting observation with Quill that basically revealed Canterlot, and really most of Equestria as being Pennsylvania. Anyway, none of that is on topic, is it? The only big thing I contributed into my Equestria is the mana crystals. It explains the high concentration of magical power in Equestria. Adds explanation to how magic works rather than just being "a gift you are born with." Since if that were true, there wouldn't be any bother with different magic spells. Wouldn't need to conjure anything if you have it already. As listed on the map that Quill's holding in my one answer on Tumblr; The Crystal of Chaos is underneath the Ever-Free Forest. It is called chaos because it possesses a mix of many different elements, rather than just a few. The Crystal Purium is in Canterlot's mountain. It controls space, time, and magic as a pure source. The Crystal of Ice is up in the "Frozen North." The Crystal of Fire is in the Dragon Lands. The Crystal of Life is near Gallopmere, which is located about between Canterlot and Filly Delphia. There are others in different parts of the world, as well.
Well, we can just make that stuff up. I can't see why anything not on the map can't be free game for anyone that wants to use a new location for their needs.
Snow and I sorta did this once by making references to the Feudal Equestria RP once. It was... quite hectic. I like the idea, but keeping track of this would be difficult.
Agreed. I was considering looking for help to manage both the normal RPs and the Multiverse ones. I just figured I'd run it by you guys to see what you think.
YES YES YES YES, ALL OF MY YES. PLEASE, TYRO, HAVE ALL OF MY INTERNETS FOR THIS IDEA. PLEASE. Oh, and i love this idea, just so you know. Oh, and following Eight Star: The Crystal Dome lies somewhere in the badlands. Not that hard to spot, as it's freakin' huge. Winterglade's up in Frozen North, lying dormant for explorers to excavate it and die in the process. ... And if i got anything more, i'll contribute it.
I love it. It'd be sorta like the Tumblr multiverse they have set up over there. Certain characters intermingling with each other, causing ripples in other tumblr...verses. It's really quite complex, but fun to watch. It'd be a fun group project.
So, if we go forwards with this, there's a number of considerations. How about we throw some ideas out? Consideration 1) - Setting We'll have to come up with a nice, general location for the Multiverse that will allow for a large range of possible characters. We don't have to go for a 'Standard Equestria' to then build from but it would certainly be the simplest to work within. Other ideas that come to mind would be versions of Equestria based in a Fallout-like wasteland or we could alter the time period to somepoint in the past or future. What do we think? Standard or maybe something more exotic?
I'm all for this idea! Think of the possibilities with it! As for the setting, I'm torn between standard or a time period after the Mane 6 have passed on.
I love steampunk! Although I think it would work best as a time just after the generation of the mane 6, so their deeds and such are known but over with. Equestria is already part steampunk anyways.
Well, what about things like my Tremalion, Heculius, and the Elements of the Ancients. All those things are pretty significant to everyday life to ponies in my RP's. how would we incorporate that to fit with everything else?
