    This is the first time I've seen it in my entire life, and the way this online textbook explains it makes it hard to interpret.

    I'll just keep running through it, maybe I'm missing something

    The main thing I don't understand is how to get the 0's in the Matrix

    Ah okay, The first time I saw them was.. last semester. Our school don't teach matrices at all I think.

    You can perform 3 operations.

    Multiply a line by a constant.
    Multiply a line by a certain number of another line (like R1 = R1 - 2xR2 or something)
    and switching the rows.

    Do the Zero's have to be in a shape like this?

    or can they be in any order so long as one line has two zeroes and another has one?

    Also this isn't school work, it's part of an extra maths course my Teacher thought I should do.

    00

    especially for Gauss-Jordan elimination so that for a 3x3 matrix for example:

    100|x
    010|y
    001|z
