well, as you know,I was one that made "Are we overdoing it a little?" topic, but as well, I have converted a lot of bronies and never had problems with it.
    that's kinda contradictory.
well, I have 3 strategies to do it:
1: presentations: as that pony physics presentation, it's had to be good. not just plain introduction of the show, just some kind of analysis of the show beyond show level. like physics analysis, psychology analysis, maths analysis or so.
2: memes: posting memes in topics that are intended for memes, funny pictures, spam.
    3: person to person talks.

now in 1, it's quite clear
2, post memes in some topics on forums that are intended for such things, but don't overdo it, and don't just be about ponies, post other memes too and posts, just throw in ponies here and there.
in 3. start regular conversation with someone who you want intentionally or non intentionally turn into a brony. just start random chat about something else and over couple of topics, ask him/her what shows does he/she like, and when he/she asks you, just say blah, blah, blah, mlp, blah, blah blah. sudden interest will appear why do you, person that likes all the regular shows, said mlp? he she will probably ask you why, and well you know what to say about the show. DO NOT mention the community or bronysm. talk about the show itself. let them discover community themselfs.
the key in both memes and conversation is to show yourself as normal guy/girl, and that will make them ask themselfs: "why does he/she like mlp?" and then they will try out the show themselfs. if you're too enthusiastic, or over the top, you're get label "weird" and show "weird" with you. not good at all.
for clothes and other stuff, keep it in your personal space. as in, no: don't wear it or so, but: keep it on yourself and within you, don't throw it on others. If they show curiosity about it, then share your info about the show. if they start looking you funny, just try replaying with : "haha, you know I'm always crazy" or something like that.
important is to stay cool, and to be normal, and don't show that you're too enthusiastic about the show (even if you really are) and that you have other things in life as well (which will make you appear normal).
also when you tell info about the show, DO NOT say: "you should watch mlp" or "you could watch it", but I prefer "I recommend it for you" or my favourite "It's worth the time". that way you make recommendation instead of pushing it, so people don't feel that you're forcing it to them, but recommending.

so, key is to keep your cool whatever anyone says about mlp or you liking mlp, if it's something offensive, don't lose your grip, but try to turn it into joke on your own expense (that way the "troll" won't win since it'll appear that they have entertained you instead of insult you). Also, keep your enthusiasm about the show, and just say you like it, and make them curious, and let them get to the show themselfs. Keep ponies in your personal space (expect in 1, but then you have to do it in rather funny way, as in, take something silly as mlp and make serious analysis about it (mlp physics presentation example))
    and that's it.
I've made a lot of bronies online and irl, I can't even count them anymore even if I want to. I just kept my coolness and appeared normal to them and make them wonder: "why does normal guy like *insert name* like mlp? "

I recently made a great conversion, he is one of the most popular and well liked dudes in the class. Ii happened by me doing my presentation about MLPFiM in front of the class. He seemed bored in my reaction shots, but 2 days later he asked me how he can watch the show and I told him youtube and that he should watch at least 4 episodes before making up his mind. He said he wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I wanted to say more to him, but I decided to keep my cool and my tongue and appear like I was only vaguely interested in his interest in the show. I think he was also intrigued by the Fluttershy shirt I was wearing a lot now.

So after that weekend he told me, I didn't ask. That he watched the whole first season. I laughed and said. "You couldn't just stop at 4 episodes, could you?". didn't catch his answer to that due to the ambient noise and his attention getting turned away by other people.

that was pretty much it it was a brief conversation. I couldn't tell if he just found the show tolerable for 26 episodes or if he really enjoyed it. But I just kept my mouth shut, and waited about another 4 hours further into the day before he brought it up again. I asked if he thought the show was good? He said he found the last episode strange and thought Princess Celestia would have been more mad at them. I told him about the Princess Trollestia meme and that was it.

Anyway, I anticipate that since this guy is so popular in the class it may spread as people will think well if he is watching MLP and bringing it up in conversation randomly, I might want to watch it. Also some other people have playfully made jokes about the show, for example one of my closer friends who I haven't convinced to watch the show, used the word Fluttershy when we were playing hangman, of course I guessed it.

The meme has begun it's infestation and as long a I play it cool and pretend I don't care that much, it will take over the class, then the school, THEN THE ENTIRE WORLD, MUAHAHAHAHAHA!

@ ^2: yes, whole world watching ponies is nice thought, but still there will be people who will find show simply boring.
when I opened MLP:FiM topic on FER2.net (my collage forum), one guy tried out 5 episodes of mlp, and said that he simply find show boring, but he sees how someone who's not little 9 year old girl could like the show. he was one of "brony haters" before (he simply found memes irritating, and he was thinking that people posting pony memes were trolls, and then we was stunned that some people on my collage actually love the show). so yeah, he doesn't like the show, and I simply respect that, even if he has watched it.

the thing is: fact is that I've converted a lot of people to bronies. and when I say a lot, I mean a lot (from people from collage, to friends online and irl, to even one guy that I met just 20 min before turning him to brony, to today daughter of my dad's friend and so on and so on).
fact is that I made it so I wouldn't make any haters, and was careful not make anyone dislike the people that like the show. disliking the show is completely acceptable, just point is to show that bronies (in my case me as a brony) are normal people like him (that person that you're talking to about mlp).
as I said, I used 2. and 3. and it worked a lot.

    ^ Nice!
I'll try converting my class then... almost like a challenge of sorts!
I think it should be easy for most of my class, anyways... it's mainly made of girls.
I guess the problem is I'm not really a socialite is all :D

I'm trying to convert people at work. It isn't going so well. The one guy is very big user of /b/, making all my efforts go down the drain.

Just ask him when he does that if he even watched it past the first two episodes then, if you want to XD
But I'm not sure if it would work, I don't know the guy or who you're trying to convert...
