It's a weirdly mixed bag. Warning: Abbreviations incoming. We've been taught UML, SQL, HTML, a little Javascript, some GUI design, PHP, Java Development, computer and computer game history, game deconstruction and a little bit on animation techniques will be coming soon to help us with sprite making. I know there's other stuff too. Oh! And a year long project where we go through a Development cycle to actually attempt to make a basic piece of software.
That does sound like a lot of fun. If I had the time and funds to do a Game design degree, I would do it as well as my MCMS. In my computing papers I'm taught C# which I don't like but its good for beginners, for my first compulsory paper ( which I did in high school) we learnt (well.. I didn't cause I already knew the stuff) drawing, loops, reading and writing from external files (.txt and .csv). all that sorta stuff, then this semester we got taught classes, objects, inheritance, Polymorphism, Recursion and the like for programming. For theory: Binary, Logic gates, Assembler in MASM, Turing Machines, Sorting Algorithms. Next year I'll be starting Java.
Ah! Lots of that stuff sounds familiar from previous courses I've taken. Ah, Mr Turing. You and your tests and your infinite tape...Anyway, you'll have an easy transition period with C# to Java, at least. They're different but they appear to be set out in roughly the same way.
Its all stuff I already knew when learning C++ but its good to actually have assignments and stuff on it. well C# was basically based on Java, so yeah, it should be good. heh, my mate got a scholarship for it in Year 12 (2nd to last year of high school) so he's doing 3rd year stuff already...
General Chat Thread 3: Dey tuk mah jeeeeewwwwb! Hey hey dillaaaay I'm pretty good, just watched the new AVGN episode - how's you?
General Chat Thread 3: Dey tuk mah jeeeeewwwwb! AVGN is the Angry Video Game Nerd - he does reviews of old NES games or Atari etc.. Retro games. The ones that suck. He's on his 107th episode and is making a movie, but is currently working on his 'Monster Madness' project which runs every year over Halloween, where he reviews his favourite horror films - this year, it's his favourite 80's films. Check him out on YouTube @ JamesNintendoNerd or go to his website www.cinemassacre.com He's a pretty cool guy, I met him once and shook his hand. :3
Hey, that actually looks pretty cool. I'll have to check it out sometime. It is really hard to level grind a Zubat. :/
General Chat Thread 3: Dey tuk mah jeeeeewwwwb! 2 things. 1. His videos aren't exactly.. Family friendly. 2. Which Pokémon game?
General Chat Thread 3: Dey tuk mah jeeeeewwwwb! Ghosts and Goblins is the one he just released, d'you mean that one? Maybe he did one on Ghouls 'n Ghosts, I can't remember I own a reproduction card of Cheetahmen 2. Cost me £12 lol!
I seem to like his reviews on the consoles more than many others. Its really quite fascinating to look at the history of the gaming consoles.
General Chat Thread 3: Dey tuk mah jeeeeewwwwb! I absolutely love my NES. Apart from the fact I have a game so bad it deserves a review - The Hunt for Red October. I swear to god the music made me turn it off within about 15 seconds. Google it, the whole game is atrocious. OMG YES LEAF GREEN YOU NICE PERSON.
That's the one! Couldn't remember the name... Couldn't agree more. I quite like looking at the history of this stuff. Especially looking at the stuff that didn't survive that I've never heard of like the Tiger Game.Com. Anyway, I've rather enjoyed my first time here. I'll make a habit of this, I think. Night.
General Chat Thread 3: Dey tuk mah jeeeeewwwwb! I hope to see you around here t'moro... If you ain't we shall hunt you down.... There shall be no escape... Sleep well n___n /)
