SPOILER WARNING (doing this for the thread preview when you hover over the title) So it turns out Cadance was the ruler of the Crystal Empire all along. I suppose that solves the question of how old she really was. (Shining must be crapping his figurative pants right now.) But how? She was a teen when Twilight was growing up, and now all of a sudden she's over a thousand years old. Furthermore, what the heck happened? Why didn't she stay in the Crystal Empire like everyone did? Everyone seems to have forgotten about the Crystal Empire. One would assume that if Cadance left, she'd at least try to save it. So yeah, Crystal plotholes. Discuss plz.
sure her cutie mark is like the crystal heart and I know they called her the Crystal princess. But does that really make her the ruler of them. the kindom disappeared 1000 ago. Which is funny cause Luna and Celestia defeat him, but Luna was on the moon for 1000 years. Luna comes back before the kingdom. So that would mean Luna was sent to the moon before it disappeared. now the above could be wrong. Maybe candance helped Celestia defeat the king I dunno. I could have missed some stuff. if she was the ruler of the kingdom, I dunno maybe she had royal duties to attend to. He she I the crystal princess and that other unicorn is the king wouldn't that mean they are related or something.
They seem to use the "a thousand years ago" scenerio for everything. Alot can happen in 1 year i guess.
well what I'm asking is. Did candance help defend the kingdom with Celestia or was it Luna. If it's Luna they goofed major. Celestia claimed to have little knowledge of it. But she fought discord before Luna was banished. So that had to be at least a year. So unless she just forgot like the crystal ponies did, then I see a major timeline iissue. so was it Candance or Luna that helped Celestia defeat the King? If it was Candance then it make more sense that she was the crystal princess. In the little scene they show it doesn't show the EoH, so that's why I ask. I figured the EoH were the end all thing for ponies.
I myself am settling with the head-canon that Cadance's parents ruled the Crystal Empire before Sombra overthrew them. She was probably a filly then and sent away to Equestria to be kept safe (though you'd think her parents would have some influence on the episode if this were the case). Cadance's cutie mark showed that she would be heir to the throne. And yeah, Cadance does look like a teen during Twi's flashback in A Canterlot Wedding, which is odd because I've always went with the notion that all Pegasus unicorns (alicorns whatever) live for thousands of years. Lots of continuity issues.
Like the fact that Luna was even there. Luna should not have been able to be there. She should have been on the moon. Looking at it this way makes it look bad, but overall as a self contained thing it was pretty darn good.
Would Luna have been sent to the moon yet? I thought the original cyrstal empire put it a bit before her banishment.
Well if Luna was banished when the empire disappeared then they both wuld have come back at the same time. Luna helped defeat the king and then the empire disappeared. I can only assume it happened after his defeat. so the empire is now gone and Luna is still around. I have no clue how long it took Luna to become NMM, but I'd have to assume it to be about a year. But NMM came back when before the empire. Both came back after 1000 years. Unless they just rounded the numbers. But by their story and timeline is shouldn't have happened. If the empire was gone for 1000 years then Lune should have still been on the moon.
Cronies (Croatia Bronies) collective agreement on case (we had discussion on that topic when we watched it on meetup/birthday): There was someone very similar to Cadence 1000 years ago, so when they saw Cadence, they thought it was same princess as one 1000 years ago.
I think I know a way to clear this up. Cadance's talent is spreading love right? And according to Celestia, what is the biggest symbol of love that spreads it all across Equestria when given enough hope? The Crystal Heart. It doesn't mean she's ruler of the crystal ponies, it means that her cutie mark symbolises the biggest spreader of love in the world. Therefore, because she is the spreader of love, it's only reasonable that she is the one who goes to help kickstart the empire back into a state of love and kindness.
I'm just starting to think that "1000 years" just means a really long time. Perhaps, given the one year time frame, Luna could have turned bad just after the empire disappeared. That being the case, the empire should have returned before NMM, but I don't think it counts down every last second. NMM's return and the Crystal Empire returning probably happened within the same year. Maybe NMM got out of the moon early for good behavior and started a life of crime once again during her probation.
