Have any of you guys ever met a fake brony? I can't stand people like this. They say that they're a brony, but they don't even watch the show. They watch it like once, and never again. They just want to say they're a part of something.

There's this kid on my bus who's one of these fake bronies, his name is Chris. I saw Chris in the hall one day wearing a Fluttershy shirt. I immediately approached him and started talking about the show. He didn't know anything I was talking about. He didn't even know who Rainbow Dash was. I've never wanted to kick anybody so hard in my life.

So what are your guys' experiences with fake bronies?

Honestly, it doesn't annoy me at all. You call them out for being "fake bronies". Be a brony yourself and leave them be. :derpe:

Yeah, that sounds about right. Poke him occasionally to watch the show more often but otherwise, I'd leave him be. It's not as if he's being malicious or anything. Perhaps he's simply a pony fan?

I have nothing against them but, if they just talk about the fandom and never the show then well...that's their loss, they clearly haven't grasped what the idea of being a brony is about, much like several new additions to the fandom I'm sorry to say, it just seems people are always hopping on for the ride nowadays.

But it doesn't affect me watching the show and enjoying myself so I don't mind.

Hell, only 5 people around here knew what a brony was before I told anyone else.

I've never come across anyone like that, but back on MW3 I would always have stupid kids lie and say they're a brony so they could get in our level 50 brony clan. Psst...wannabes. But seriously, they missed the whole point of us having that clan. They just wanted the benefits. Greedy little turds. Make's me mad thinking about it.

well, wouldn't mostly everyone one here be a fake MLP fan then. I mean most have never even seen anything but G4.

We're talking fake bronies. Last I checked, "Brony" only applies to someone who's a fan of the G4 series, but not limited to only the G4 series. It's not like it's that big of a deal.

Just saying, if call them fake bronies, then almost everyone here is a fake MLP fan.

sure, brony is only put on the G4 group, but MLP is still a big thing. I'm just saying is all.

I guess if you want to be that particular about it. I don't think we'd necessarily be called "fake" MLP fans, but a different word escapes me.

I'm just saying that calling them fake is kinda dumb. So they don't watch the show. Cause in doing so then it wouldn't make you a real MLP fan.

it reminds me of the whole punk thing. Now there are no rules to be punk, but there are. Yes, that is confusing. Accroding to the majority, a real punk wouldn't call someone else a fake punk because in doing it they become fake themselves. But then Avril Lavigne calls herself punk and a ton of people say no. Not to mention a real punk doesn't call themsleves a punk.

it's all just stupid. I mean really, what is a brony, a fan of MLP G4. Doesn't really matter what they do. Would they still not be a fan. And, aren't bronies supposed to accept all that enjoy it. So, if you call another a fake then you wouldn't be a real brony either.

Oh, I'd be fine with having fake bronies like that, I just hate the people that go anonymous online and pretend to be Bronies, and be massive jerks and trolls to give us a bad reputation. There are a few people i know who hate Bronies because of people like these, and a few people I know who do this who i really wish wouldn't.

And those trolls also take up a good amount of the more Rabid "fans" that this fanbase has. Not all of them, but a good amount of them.

Other then the trolls, I don't particularly mind if someone is a "Fake Brony". Heck, I've seen some people on this site admit that they're mainly here for the fanbase and not the show. Are they fake bronys too?

Eh it's not a big deal, after all imitation is the highest form of flattery. Besides a fake brony will most likely eventually just become a full brony in time anyway.

I honestly don't see it as a problem. To me, what is canonical considered as a "Brony" varies from person to person. I haven't even watched half of the episodes yet (saw most of Season 3, but just a few episodes from both 1 & 2), I know all the main 6 + Spike pretty well, the 3 CMC + Babs, a lot of the minor & background characters, a lot of the plot, saw many fan-mades (favorite is still the MOVs by HotDiggedyDemon), read a lot on the show, have both some songs and abridged series as well as other fan-mades on my ipod, got a few people into MLP (most likely not bronies, but they occasionally watch it), have some merchandise (mainly Rainbow Dash and some Fluttershy, might post a pic, but it's little and not near Yeti's or Yami's level), and I have been on EP more than my main forum as of the past 30 days. Not to mention pictures. So, some will see me as a Brony, but others might not think I am at that level yet.

My friend Khrys is a 'fake' brony cause he has never watched a real episode (despite seeing many fan-mades, including two of HotDiggedyDemon's MOVs). But he has more MLP pics than I do and often has Twilight Sparkle (his favorite) as his Facebook avatar. Plus he knows the Mane 6 well as well as others like Scootaloo & Derpy. I got him 'sorta' into MLP. And he claims to be a brony. If you claim to be one and know even a little about MLP, I consider you one (even if others don't say it's enough), bronies are often discriminated cause of our enjoyment of a "little girl's show", so we shouldn't discriminate others who embraces us or want to be us, that's no better and it causes division.

A Brony is anyone who enjoys MLP FiM...or anyone who likes My Little Ponie's in General...
However, i also believe that people who follow the values that Bronyism (is that a word) instills in people (Friendship,Kindess,Tolerance) can be considered Brony so long as the ydont despise MLP....
