I wouldn't call that arguing, but okay. I thought we were just having a calm and pleasant conversation. Whether I like you or not Poetic, I respect your views for the site. So, for you, I will stop what you call arguing.
I feel guilty for being here against my rules of leaving, but there's one thing I have to say: EP in a thread.
The staff needs more organization. To the outside observer, it seems like there are no plans or goals or constructive work being done to move forward - with a few exceptions, mainly on the theme development. There needs to be more visibility and transparency. One post a week about what you want to let us know about isn't the end all goal, it is merely a step in the right direction. As far as rules go, I don't have a "side". I think the listed rules should in essence come out to say "Don't be a jerk." I also think the moderators should use their discretion into deciding who is acting like a jerk, on a per case scenario. Every situation is different, every member handles authority differently. Admins need to moderate the moderators. They also need to moderate each other. There must be checks and balances in the system or one group will end up with too much "power" and then the site become fun for no one but those with that so-called power. This is merely my two cents on the issues here. May we all end up with an amicable solution to our perceived problems here. /Stilgar, do we have wormsign? //Usul, we have wormsign the likes of which God has never seen. ///A storm is coming.
Because when dan was "trolling" me i considered leaving the site until the collective mods grew a braincell and banned him. Seriously. That was borderline cyberbullying.
I agree that it was kind of cyberbullying. He did pick on you the most and I'm pretty sure the rules say something about harrassment. That's kind of what the report button is there for. Once you hit it, the mods/admins should sort them out.
I think as far as transparency goes, we've already established the solution to that, and it's simply to be more open. Like we said in a previous thread, there's nothing more for us to share with you guys, and as Snow pointed out in the same thread, the fact that you don't know that is in itself a problem. Nothing's changed since then, so yeah, still nothing new in the works. This all kind of ties in with what Poetic said, we aren't really adding too many new plans, just fixing the base ones; ie, what constitutes this and that, who does what, moderating the moderators, etc. Edit: The ironic thing is the final thing that Dan was banned for was harassment.
I've got a quick question for the mods and admins that's related to this: Does the post have to be reported for someone to act upon it? An example that springs to mind was during the whole clop-PM incident. Even when Echo openly confessed to participating, you refused to act until you found a way to report the PM. So are you guys powerless without the report button, or can you ban whoever deserves to be banned without the post being reported?
With PMs, we literally can't view them until it's reported, so it absolutely has to be, otherwise there's a possibility of fabrication when somebody tries to recreate it. Otherwise, it just brings the post in question to our attention.
as far as PM goes, mods can't see what's in PM's unless they are reported. They are called private for a reason. ok. let's establish something No more argument beyond this line: _____________________________________________________________________________________ ok, now that we've got that out of the way. This thread sounds little like Crystal empire story. It all looks the same, but it doesn't feel the same, right? well, it won't be a fair, but everypony.com will take part on one big event in pony community that will be on Sunday that is planned at the moment. (more info on event in community post on friday, on band of bronies show on saturday and when everything will be planned). We, staff, can give our best, but we also need help from you members to make this place warm and loving as it used to be. (this considers the staff as well) We, the staff can give our best to give you that extra nudge (how Scootaloo would put it), but it's you, members who have to power heart of this site with love and harmony.
Yay, I did something right! Although you are absolutely correct about the small handful ruining it. Maintaining a community is like driving uphill. It requires a lot of effort to make progress. However, even if you relax for just a bit, you go backwards and it becomes a chore to fix and get back on track. It's easy for a couple of members to cause a riot, but it's harder for many members to stop the riots that have been created. Wow, the show's message is actually extremely helpful to this topic. It's as if Hasbro new about us. But like you said, we need to reignite the passion that was apparently lost over the last year or so. Hahaha, oh you're serious.
For the record, I've always been for stopping the cosmetic stuff and working on fixing the actual problems. Anyone on the staff, former or no, can tell you that much. Yeah, you can blame me for a lot of things, including some current events, but we're all doing our best to rid it of these problems. The blame doesn't just fall on one person. It is a collective blame that most staff and some users have a part to play in. Poetic did nothing to try and stop Miggy from acting this way because 'He didn't want to ruin his fun.' as he stated. Part of the blame goes to him. Zeph has been too indecisive for anyone's own good. Part of the blame goes to him. I have had minimal success in stopping arguments between me and other staff members. Part of the blame goes to me. There are a lot of other things that have gone wrong with both the staff and the users. We all have to improve. It isn't just 'Baw Baw staff are bad guys.' We all have to work together instead of bickering and trying to prove a point to each other. We can't do that without user input, but it's hard to get said input when some members go out of their way to cause trouble, such as Miggy or the late Dan. We have constantly said to PM us with suggestions and try to help, but either nobody is sending in suggestions, or whoever you're PM'ing isn't bringing anything up in the staff room. In that case, we have a very serious problem. I'm doing my best, as are a few others. But this blame game needs to stop. Everyone to some degree has a portion of the blame. The staff moreso than anyone else. I've said time and time again to stop working on new sections and areas of the site and start getting down to the basics. I hope this is the wakeup call we all needed. As much as I hate to say it, before we can work on fixing this place for you guys, you guys have to work on fixing yourselves, as we are trying to do now. Most of you are goodwilled and kind and don't need to reflect on your purpose here. The few who this does apply to know who they are. I, quite frankly, am tired of seeing and hearing 'Fix it fix it fix it fix it fix it!' when nobody tells us what to fix or who to look out for. If any of you have a problem, just make a thread, or PM me. Both will ensure that your voice is heard. The time for lolligagging and screwing around is over. I'm tired of the blame game, I'm tired of people who can't understand that we're all trying our best here. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'm not going to stop until the users don't have to worry about this or bring up this topic any more. Say I have a messiah complex or I want people to think I'm the Lord Jesus Himself, whatever, that's your own thoughts and your own opinions. I care about this site and it's people and I'm not going to let a couple of two-bit punks ruin it for everyone else. They know who they are. So if you have a problem with the site, a member, a staff member, anything, I highly advise you to tell us. Or me. Or just make a thread. I'm tired of everyone saying 'I give up.' It's only truly over when you give up. Let's just work together for once instead of attacking each other and trying to make everyone else you don't like seem like the anti-christ or some other crap. I think most of us are tired of having to deal with the little things over and over again. Rant over. If anyone has a problem with anything, make a thread or PM me. I'll always be listening.
All i know is that because of certain things said, this particular thread has blown way out of proportions. What i'd like to do is focus on what is said in the OP, and fix that, instead of starting to mention all of the site's problems at once and do nothing but argue about it. Furthermore (and this may sound rude), If you have nothing constructive to add, please stay out of this.
NOT gonna let this get buried. And another thing. The staff recruiting threads only seem to be there to waste bandwidth. The mods never check them!
