Whoa, it's a rare sighting of DRD. Hopefully things will improve to where you feel like returning to us. If not, I'm adding you on Skype, because I've missed you and the awkward silence conversations we had on your TeamSpeak.
Now I'm back to bore you with my experiences. I actually agree with Zephyr when he says that the site is doing better than it was. And I'm going to explain why, instead of letting others guess. I'm terrible at meeting new people. When I first joined these forums, I felt welcome as the community seemed very close. I hardly actually posted for my first few months here. Even when I did, I seemed to be ignored. But since I'm the least favourite of my parents, I simply brushed that fact aside and stayed here. I only began to actually become more active after the new year. I realised that since the community was pretty close, I literally had to jump right into the action to be involved. The main member that showed me this was actually Poetic. Literally on the day he joined, he made himself feel at home and he fitted right in into the community. It was after this that I became more involved and really started to enjoy myself. Although under the older members of staff, the users had little say in how things were done. Some time earlier this year, the EP Review Group was up and running. I was quite pleased, since it made me feel that my opinion was worth anything. However, this quickly died down and was abandoned. Even after many of the members were inquiring about the Serious Discussion Section, it was ignored. This was probably what Rarit E meant when he said that nothing got done in the staff room. At one point, there were about 30 members of staff and like 50 active members, so it felt more like a VIP club than a job. However, things then began to change for the better. For some reason, many of the staff left, leaving behind the members who were willing to do their job. We also had more things added to this site (like the blogs and chat). And the auto-merge feature was absolutely amazing. But the main thing that I liked is that the members are getting heard now. They finally gave the serious discussion a try and no complaints have been made. Also I've noticed that recently pretty much all of the suggestions have been acknowledge and something has been done about them. And this whole site discussion thing in the EPN chat seems promising as well. I think that things are changing for the better now. The only thing that has changed between now and then is ourselves. While I have become alot more confident over the past year, others have become negative. Hopefully this can change. Complaining about the present won't make this site improve. If you change your mindset so that it's the same positivity you had last year, you'll find that hardly anything has changed. The only thing that has changed is ourselves.
I was wondering why the EP Review Team died down in the first place. Think it's about time to start that thing up again. Exactly my point, B-Dog. We should change ourselves moreso than we should change the site, because really, that's the only thing that has changed. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only voice that the users have in the staff room any more. Most mods are too afraid that you'll think we're trying to silence you or do whatever to mitigate you, and all I've been doing is pushing for things that would make you guys like this place a bit more. This isn't to say I'm the only one who thought of this. Poetic did before he left, and Yeti and Yami do as well. It just seems I'm more adamant about it than others right now. We have guidelines, but they are just that, Guidelines. We are to use them when we are unsure of what to do, and it's clear to me to what -I- have to do. I don't care how long it takes me, but I'll keep doing everything I can. The people who left were tired of the constant fighting and the job just wasn't 'fun'. I feel obligated to help this site. I literally wouldn't be here if it weren't for the site's people. If you think I'm just gonna kick the bucket because things get a bit tough, no way. That's just not who I am. Until the inevitable firing happens, I'm staying and I'm going to do my damn best to help you guys out. I'm going to get the EP Review Team back in shape. I'll also form a Skype Chat for it so information can be relayed there. If anyone wants into the Review Team, please PM me and I'll make it happen. Sparky, if you want to help that badly, this is your best chance to do it.
I was quite suprised, it was going well. But one day it just died. The only person who actually looked at it when I posted a suggestion was Mike. And this was before he was an admin. And yes, we need to change. If you guys don't believe me, just look at random pages in the original GCT and see how everyone got along with each other. The only thing that has really changed on this site are the members, the staff, our attitudes and the rep system.
just for the record, I've been saying that for like months. Remember, "change the users, not the site"
Don't accept him. If you started a political party, would you accept sensible, educated folk who knew what they were doing and explained what they would do in complete detail, or would you only accept whiny children who simply say 'I CAN DO THIS!!' without even considering how they'd do it?
That's true, but we won't know until we try. There is always the option of removing unruly members of the team. But we have never given Sparky a chance to prove himself, so I'm going to let him because it's obvious he feels he can do this.
which is fair enough in my eyes. Test, on the other side of that "I CAN DO IT" thing, there are the people that demand the mods do things without considering how they can do it. I'm sure plenty of people can say what others should do, but it's a lot harder for those that have to actually do it. Like Zeph and the problem user thing, sure we can all say what we would do in his spot but would they really do it.
Hey there, don't forget. I have Skype so feel free to add me if you haven't added me or I haven't added you. Skype: TwiDashIsMyShip Oh you did? I feel loved. ---> :derpe: Yep, I'm still living. How have you been? I feel so Legendary. Nice to meet you again Testy.
Quite awesome, now that I've seen you again. Although your gamertag has ruffled my feathers once again. XD Now, about that review team! I think I'll sign up for that.
If we have to, we will get rid of people. People who deserve to be banned deserve to be banned. We won't remove someone without good reason.
Do you think a review team can really help? I guess if anything it can't make things worse...I think.
