She is the most beautiful pony, but her personality shows a lot of immaturity and selfishness. I also can't understand people that have huge dislike for books.
Well, Dashie loves to read, she is probably the biggest reader in the group aside from Twilight. Myself I think Rainbow has improved alot since the start of the series and is far less immature now than she was originally. Take the reading for example, she used to not like that and now that is one of her favorite hobbies. She may still be selfish at times but she do often sacrifice the fullfillment of her goals for the sake of her friends (AKA, Hurricane Fluttershy.) When it comes to Dash, I would reccomend not looking at what once was, but how she is now. Most of the reasons anyone has to dislike her are stuff she has left behind her already. That is one of the strenghts of this show I think, the characters do grow as people and change over time, for example Twilight was alot more antisocial initially.
I would have to say she is my favorite main six, but that being said, her attitude gets kind of annoying after a while and I don't really like her voice, but that's more manageable then her attitude.
As others have noted, she has an over-inflated ego. She's a braggart. The only thing I really like about her is the way she tries to motivate Fluttershy. Definitely my least favorite of the ponies. I do like that she has taken to reading since that hospital stay in season two (although I haven't seen any evidence that this goes beyond just reading Daring Do novels).
I like Rainbow Dash, she's my second favorite charrie yeah, I guess some people criticize her, but I think Rarity is the most hated of the main 6 xD

I think some people are just a little jelous of how much praise Rainbow Dash gets. Being the "Over-rated" pony everyone see's her to be. It's like your parents only knowing one pokemon. "Pikachu" There's some features about her that some people love to exploit. Rainbows as a symbol of homosexuality, people making jokes and cracks about her being a lesbian because of her rainbow mane. Her tomboyish voice, as well as her ego. In all honesty, I don't believe Rainbow Dash deserves any of it at all. She's a loyal and good friend anyone would be happy to have. Aside from her cocky attitude, everyone can have their flaws in certain moments. Having friends who accept that makes them all worth having.
I've never seen people have an issue with Dashie, everybody/everypony knows Dashie is my all-time favorite pony, just look at my figurine, wallet, ipod touch, etc. and you will know how I like Dashie. And like somepony said, Rarity is the least liked of the Mane 6. I actually agree with RD's methods of helping Fluttershy, she is trying to show her that you are more than what you think you are and Fluttershy is an awesome pony, she just doesn't think highly of herself, Fluttershy is basically the cartoon mare version of myself and is my 3rd favorite after Dash and Pinkie. As far Rainbow Dash's self-bragging, I can see how people can hate it, but because Dash makes it so cool and funny, I personally like it.
After todays episode, RD deffinantly gets some Brownie points. Rainbow Dash shall Mentor young Scootaloo to be 20% cooler then the rest of the ponies of Equestria just as she is! XD.
Everypony has his/her own personality, and i for one love Dashie for her laid back attitude, but we musnt forget she is always there to help when something goes down
Forced? Sweetie Belle didn't seem to mind it very much. I'm sure if she had complained Rarity would have either helped her or had her stop carrying it entirely.
That's just Rarity being Rarity. Sweetie Bell was having trouble, but she didn't seem to mind it. They were prepared for any and all catastrophes. Can you really blame her?
