There are different definitions of trolling. The general definition is the act of aiming to cause an emotional response from another person. I think that this can be split up even further into:
    - Trying to anger someone
    - Trying to upset someone

I, myself, draw the line at upsetting someone (which is pretty much bullying). Bullying is one of those things that shouldn't exist, but it still does. I sometimes find angry people amusing, so I don't mind the first definition, but I'm not a fan of the second definition.

So where do you guys draw the line?

    Simple: I dont do it.
Both of the reactions are harsh, and I prefer not to mess with emotions.
Emotions in general, can be a brittle thing, easy to break.
Break someone's jolly spirit, and you get someone who lives with hate.
Break the hatefull spirit, you get someone who lives with joy.
All this can be changed, all for the worse, via trolling, so I personally, if anything, despise Troll's.

Well i think there are differences.

For example to troll someone on the internet so hard that you can call it bullying is not okay. But with my friends, we sometimes troll us for fun. So nothing that really angers the other, but gives you something to laugh about together with the person being trolled. For example drawing on someons face, when hes drunk with a non-permanent pen. Its trolling in my eyes, but the next morning he wakes up laughs and goes into the bathroom to wash it off his face. No real harm done.

I have same opinion as Valkyyria.
"Trolling" (or more precisely : "pranking") is ok as long as no one is hurt (emotionally or physically), and it's fun for everyone at the end.
Also, the line should be different for different people, since every person reacts differently to same pranks.
Good example would be from MLP episode Griffon the Brush-Off. Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash pranked rest of mane 6, with pranks that were, at the end, funny to everyone (Painting AJ's apples with washable color, giving Twi invisible ink, putting some dust that made Rarity sneeze in flowers), but they knew the line for Fluttershy, since they (Pinkie) knew that even the smallest prank would upset her (and by knowing that, aborting the prank).

Trolling is fine by me as long as it stays verbal. I feel it straddles a finer line when it involves doing things rather than just saying them. There are harmless pranks you can easily laugh off, but it's much easier for them to get out of hand.

Trolls are just people who like to play mind games. It's a game to me to say something offensive and see how people react. If those people get upset, they lose. If they can take it in good humor and respond with more jokes, they win.

Maybe it's just in my nature to be an ass because I'm American. But to say trolling is never acceptable hits me somewhere personal. I've made a lot of my closest friends by trolling or being trolled.

On the internet, know when to stop. If you've been beat, you've been beat. It really pisses me off when someone's trolling, and I call them out on it and they have no explanation. What they should do at that point is walk away with their tails between their legs. But no, they just stay trying to get a rise and it always will at that point.

In the real world though, it's a lot harder. Obviously, it shouldn't be a 24/7 thing. That can be considered emotional bullying/torture. It also shouldn't be aimed at just one person all the time. All of my friends are friends with each other, so when just one of them chose to repeatedly prank me and only me, I had to get him to stop. I'd normally be okay with it, but when you're being singled out, it hurts. It SHOULD NEVER CAUSE PHYSICAL HARM. By this I mean, stuff like THIS is okay, because it's not like someone's gonna have their nose or their leg broken. Slapstick is a nice change of pace sometimes, because sometimes, a gigantic hand to the face is just that.

Me, I can't do verbal insults towards my friends without having to say, "Just kidding, gosh." I just can't. Everything I say comes out just WAY too serious.

Nice troll: Friend gets up to pee, put lemon juice in his beer. Lots of it.
Bad troll: Friend gets up to pee, put cyanide in his beer. Lots of it.

I think trolling is fun and games until someone gets hurt.

Let them have their fun as long as it ain't hurting anyone.

For me, trolling is jumping into somebodies seat as soon as they get up for a second. For me, it's opening up 50 notepad windows on somebodies computer when they go to the toilet, copying and pasting "LOLZ" as I go, putting it in comic Sans and a font size of 72. It's watching them as they have to cancel all 50 "Save this file?"s, due to the fact that each notepad window has a single word on them. It's typing rude words on new layers on somebodies photoshop file.

But it's always to friends, it's always a joke, and my friends usually don't get all mad.

one of things i usually do to cronies is that when we're on a meetup, i like to do is (when we are not doing anythinh serouos)twisting their worsd so they sound nsfw. like, one time friend said he assembled his pc (on croatian : "sclopiti") then i just repeat "sCLOPiti". it always ends in facehooves and laughter.

The only trolling I like doing is on xbox live. So much fun. People take games way too seriously and it's fun to use that for my amusement.

I love a good troll as long as it's for giggles and laughs. Like say someone did something stupid or funny and you joke about it. Or someone says something and sounded "dirty" and someone said "That's why she said", then that's fine. Heck, I do that all the time. It makes me and several of my friends laugh a lot so I enjoy it.

Bu if you're trolling to intentionally insult or hurt someone, say calling them out on their flaws, then that's not ok. As several have mentioned, it's bullying and, as someone who gets bullied a bit, it's not fun for them. Just joke around and laugh. That's much more fun than hurting someone.

Trolling can be fun, considering the nature of a troll is to derail or oftentimes hijack a post, video, or thread.
Oftentimes, a good troll can have a conversation about cupcakes flipped to his ineptitude with as simple a comment of "cupcakes are muffins durr" and I find this funny.

But some do take it too far. Outright offending for the sake of their own personal laughter, making sexist or just plain vulgar remarks to offend the party at hand, for their own enjoyment.

Bottom line, if your a troll, troll responsibly... don't troll and drive, don't troll in public, and don't troll under the age of 21. Cops see you before you see...

...Wait, what were we talking about?

Actually trolling on games is something I do quite a lot. For those of you who don;t know, the League of Legends community takes LoL very seriously, and occasionally you get the odd guy who takes it too seriously.

This is where I step in, It's quite hilarious when you eventually get the guy yelling "YOU SHOULDN"T EVEN BE PLAYING THIS **** GAME YOU NOOB!!"

Then I go, thank you for keeping me entertained this whole entire match with your rage, I appreciate it. The match ends, he reports you for "being a noob" (You can do that, but nothing get's done) And I leave having ad a good laugh.
