I don't even see why it matters what it's called. I mean, really, somebody wishes me a Merry Christmas? Fine. They took some time of their day to wish me a merry something. It's well appreciated. Wish me a Happy Hannukah? Same thing. Good Yule? That's fine too. Happy Holidays is also okay in my book. I mean, really. People making a fuzz over something like this? I don't really see the point of it.

I don't care whatsoever over the name. We call it Yule in Sweden in fact so it has very little connection to Christ. We mostly associate the holiday to eating ham and watching Donald Duck +Santa of course.

What annoys me are when people of ignorant enough to think it is a Christian holiday, it is not. It is a pagan holiday which got a christian label slapped over it. We celebrated the holiday long before this country became christian. I don't mind the name Christmas though.

wait so I'm ignorant because I think it is a Christian holiday?

It IS a Christian holiday, yes, it may have originated from paganism, but Christians Celebrate it every year, making it a religious holiday to us, it doesn't matter the origin, or the date, if something get's celebrated on a certain day by a certain religion, then it is a religious occasion/holiday for that religion.

I was talking about those who claim the holiday as exclusivly christian, basicly saying that you have to be a christian to celebrate it. Normaly these people claim Santa is taking Jesus place and have protests against that, not realizing that Jesus connection to the holiday is just as fabricated as Santa's.

I did not mean any personal offense, of course it is a christian holiday if you are a christian. It is also pagan if you are a pagan and consumerist if you are a consumer.

For me, I am basicly Ebenezer Scrooge, christmas is no longer as important for me as it once was, I do kinda miss the childlike wonder of christmas past. But according to what I know about the background of the holiday makes me cry out "humbug". I have just realized that we basicly celebrate nothing.

Maybe I could celebrate Hearth's Warming Eve instead, pony holidays FTW:smile:.
