Aside from the delayed release of the second issue, I've been very happy with the comic thus far. The art is wonderful, story is interesting, and the humor is quite memorable. I also love all of the variant covers.

Issue #2 was pretty good. I liked the intelligence employed by the changelings in getting the Mane 6 to fall apart as a unit. And I love Jim!

ok, now this is thread for issue 2 (I think there's thread for issue 1)
anyway, I have yet to lay my hands on #2, so I'll comment when I read it.

ok, I've laid my hands on it and read it:
I think it's great, although Chrysalis is kinda using Discord's methods.
    Fluttershy is new Twilight Sparkle.
Artwork is great and story is awesome.
CMC apparently don't have sense for danger lol.
Overall it's great, I'm keen on reading 3rd issue.

One thing I liked about this issue: Applejack seems more like herself and not nearly as angry as she was in the first issue.

I like the fact that there is a constant level of humor reminding you that this is My Little Pony and not Lord of the Rings (because there are a ton of LOTR references in this issue). Katie Cook is the writer, I believe? She seems to have a good grasp of this universe and the way the characters sound and interact.
My only concern is that the series will completely lack slice-of-life stories. The second story arc is going to feature another returning villain, evidently.

@Pony: Well comics are a more action/comedy based medium, and the MLP:FIM team at IDW did say there would be some more slice-of-life esque stories in the future, and some of the mane-six one shots will most likely be more laid back.

But yeah still loving the comics, Price's art makes every panal just POP!

Oh, did they? That's cool, then. They could do very interesting story arcs without any real action in them (for instance, the plot of the Twilight one-shot sounds very interesting). I just like seeing story variety, and I'd hate it if the writer used action plots as a crutch rather than fully exploring the world of Equestria.

I like the fact that the characters are more expressive. The range of facial motions has been very large thus far. It'll allow the artist to convey adequately more subtle emotions.

Yeah, the comic's art is great, almost makes me sad to know the current team will leave the book after this arc wraps up The book like the show has multiple people on it, issue 5-8 will be the second arc and have Amy Mebberson *the gal who does some of the variant covers* on Art and Heather Nufer Writing the story. But thankfully Kate & Andy will be back for issue #9

And yeah the Mane-Six one shots will vary in theme/tone from Pony to pony Twilights is fairly adventerous, Pinkie Pie & Rainbow Dash are more of an action/comedy and Applejack, Rarity Fluttershy' s will most likely be a more slice of life esque.

Anywho IDW's April solicits should be out in a week or so and we should be getting the cover & synopsis Issue #6 and the next One-Shot.

And don't forget Issue # 3 of the ongoing comes out January 16th!
