Hey, I'm doing my senior project for graduating highschool on extremist animal rights groups... I know it's a touchy subject with some people, but it suits and interests me being that I show dogs and raise livestock, so I am not a fan of these groups. Lol. So I was wondering if anyone has any links to some reliable sources to get some information on my subject? More than I have that is lol. (I have been harassed by people of extremist animal rights groups before, even gotten some threats, though I treat all my animals as if they were kings. Heck, my cows get weekly baths to keep clean...) Anyways, anyone got any good info? I'd liketo avoid conflicts here, since this is a very touchy subject with me lol
http://www.animalliberationfront.com/ the ALF website might be a good source of info that or check out PETA they seem to be the biggest
Yeah, definitely check out articles regarding PETA, or heck, just go to their website. They're a pretty ridiculous lot. It's weird, but I'm a vegetarian and a supporter of "animal rights", but even I think most of these groups are crazy.
^ I am also a vegetarian, and an environmentalist.... and I feel like PETA is the worst thing to happen to animal rights in the history of animal rights. I wish they could be more like WWF - selling cute teddy bears to raise money for wildlife refuges, or running charity drives to fund anti-poaching efforts. Or developing friendly and engaging campaigns to help animals, save the environment, protect the public health, get involved with public policy efforts, work with international and local governments.... etc etc etc meanwhile what is PETA doing? causing damage to private property, pissing off the masses, and using sexist and sometime racist imagry to attack people and organizations without providing any solutions to anything.
While I don't like to defend PETA and think they are a bunch of nutcases, I want to play Devil's advocate for a second. While admittedly not an expert, I have read (at least from their own testimonials) that the reason they kill some of the animals they rescue is because they've been so horribly mistreated or mutilated, that they are basically suffering 24/7. The blog post came with some rather disturbing images, but I was right there with you when I first that they kill nearly every animal they save. But one Google search game me the opposite side of the coin and while you can debate that ending a life under any circumstances is wrong, there are those who will see the value in ending a creature's suffering.
