Well... the thing is this is a pony forum, not a furry forum. Household pets would not make much sense. I agree with everything else though. (Except cannibal pony. Seriously, what's up with that?)
Seems unnecessary, but I guess they have some distinguishment in the show, albeit very little distinguish. You do remember this a pony forum, right? Seriously? I actually feel this might go against the rule on gore. Might be wrong.

Most of these, unfortunately, seem rather unnecessary to me, however, I can see the the addition of cat being the outlier. I'd like to hear more opinions on this though.
What with this being a pony forum, I'll agree many of these seem irrelevant, and they're not in very high demand either.. The Buffalo and Changeling, and possibly the Crystal Pony seem okay, but some of the others just seem a bit strange to me. Maybe there could be an Other option? This'd be usable by Cats and Foxes and Hamsters alike, without causing clutter in order to provide an option for somebody in the future who happens to be a kangaroo.
From an ease-of-use perspective, having a menu of 30 genders/species to pick from is going to be more annoying than beneficial. The only one's I see as potential are Crystal Pony or Changeling.
In my opinion, an "Other" option for other animals would seem fine to me. Maybe changeling and timberwolf or something. or "Other (mlp creature)" and "Other(non-mlp creature)" options if necessary.
I remember when I signed up I was suprised it didn't have dragon. or would that one not have high demand either?
Instead of a dropdown menu of species to select from, how about just making it another space people can fill out for themselves?
