That clip a few posts earlier makes me think that this episode will be extremely funny. I gotta see it.
I hate leaked clips. They build up too much anticipation for me and give me migraines. I'm not even kidding; I got a migraine from all my anticipation when season 2 was about to start and I've been terrified of spoiler clips and spoiler images ever since.
You guys are lucky, I can only watch MLP on youtube, and they usually don't post up the episodes until the day after they air >.> Sometimes I get lucky though...
now i'm looking even more to this episode. seems like we're up for whole lot of funny and lot of discord style pranks @Frost: I don't have HUB either, but I watch episodes on live streams every saturday, so it's like I have HUB (I usually watch on midnight run's channel, which had almost 720p quality, so I connect laptop with TV (via HDMI), and watch on tv)
Dude, when does the episode come out? 19/1/13, right? That's gonna make my weekend even SWEETER. I'm gonna have to try and catch this one on livestream. Yay, Fluttershy! Second best pony lives on! Twilight is first, get over it.
On January 15, 2013, Meghan McCarthy teased that "John de Lancie delivers a line in [the episode] so perfectly that it may cause the Internet to explode".
I thought this was gonna be 100% comedy but it turned out it was only 70% comedy and 30% feels. OMG I felt so bad for discord at the end but then I was like yay. And when he was like "Friendship is Magic" I was like GAH!!! Plus the 4th wall was broken and that is always fun. I can see a future of a lot of Fluttershy X Discord fanfics now also. 9.5/10
As a whole I liked this episode. I wish it had been more than 30 minutes cause that would have given a little more time for the change to happen instead of lickety split. Great point Ember - I've realized I am fan of MLP:FIM and How I Met Your Mother for the exact same reason (I know that is a strange combo). Both series will draw you in with the funny but keep you hooked because they both have lots of heart.
It needed to be a two-parter. 22 minutes isn't enough to really illustrate the change in Discord, especially when he spent the first 20 minutes flat-out trolling everyone. As it is, I'm still left suspect of Discord's intentions, but I think the show meant it to be mostly genuine (keep in mind he did say "most of the time" under his breath at the end), but it didn't feel genuine because of the suddenness of it, you know?
The writers definitely left a lot of room for further exploration with this. I doubt this part of the story is over yet.
It was pretty good... They should stop with the taking-back-previously-villainous-characters-and-turning-them-good-ing now though.
Clever :derpe: I thought it was a good episode, definitely worth a 10/10 rating. Storywise, because of agreeably the rushed ending, it wasn't perfect; the entertainment factor however was brilliant. I loved all of Discord's trolling and jokes, and it gave us some really clever use of animation. Speaking of which, when they break him out of stone the animation for that is outstanding. Great continuity, Fluttershy's stare, Pinkie Pie's obsession with the chocolate rain, and even things in the episode continued well. For example, I like how you could see the beavers carrying logs and stuff in the background, and how Discord was eating paper for an actual reason, very very clever writing really. It was nice to see Princess Celestia a little more, I think it fleshed out her character a bit even though she was only on screen for like 5 minutes. I like Discord a lot more now, not just because he's been reformed, but because he showed more of his fun, non-evil side for a while. I really want to see what his magic can do for the kingdom in the future. Also, hurray for all the villains turning nice! First Nightmare Moon, then Trixie, now Discord! It really emphasises the whole Friendship is Magic thing, as opposed to them being banished or defeated forever. FriendshipisMagic
