Zoology and Botany are a lot like the kinds of skills you'd have as a Druid: Identifying/Controlling/Manipulating animals and plants.

    -Scholar Class post-
Scholars begin with the following three skills:
Field of Study: Passive. Choosing from one of the applicable fields of study (as listed previously), the Scholar gets a +1 bonus to all rolls having to do with that particular field of study.
Observation: 5 Stamina. Once per round, the Scholar may roll 2d12+Awareness in order to make a prediction about the situation at hand. Unlike Situation Prediction, the user need only roll greater than 24 for a successful prediction.
Glasses Come Off: 15 Stamina. In a pinch, a Scholar can become a passable front-line fighter in combat. Using this ability gives the Scholar +1 Ferocity and +1 Resilience for 3 rounds. Only usable once between resting periods.

Glasses Come Off could do to be +2/+2, I think.

    Oh, here's another award:
That Weird Zebra: As a zebra, speak at least 20 lines of dialog, rhyming them all, and don't speak without rhyming.
    Award: +1 Awareness, +2 Creativity, +1 Willpower

    Mental Conditions List:
Fear - The afflicted cannot use any offensive skills or spells, and must attempt to run. In the event that escape is impossible, they can make normal attacks against ajacent targets if backed into a corner.
Berserk - The afflicted cannot use any skills or spells, and will make normal attacks on the last target to attack them. Normal attacks have the same to-hit roll, but gain bonus damage equal to the afflicted's Ferocity. (I.E: With a Ferocity of 4, and holding a weapon that gives +2, the attack roll would still be 2d12+4, but the damage would be 6 higher than the result, instead of just 2.)
Forgetfulness - The afflicted cannot us any spells.
Insanity - The afflicted will use a random skill each turn against a random applicable target.
Spacey - The afflicted will become un-responsive to the world around them, and will not be able to act.
De-Harmonized - The afflicted has a swapped personality. No other affect occurs.
Charmed - The afflicted is charmed to the afflictor. This means that they are instantly enamored with them to the point where they place the afflictor's personal safety and wishes far above their own. To others, this can look like deep emotional love. Characters who are charmed will follow any command the afflictor gives them, as long as it does not put their own personal safety at risk. (I.E: They can be ordered to attack allies, but not attack themselves.)

Then I'm thinking something for greed, maybe another for depression. Cover the basic emotional foodgroups for our changeling friends.

I would think Depressed would be: The afflicted loses their action(s) for a certain amount of turns, then afterward their stats are reduced until they can be brought "out of their funk."

Greed: The afflicted must roll a Willpower checks during every new encounter (or if not in combat, every new area) to avoid wanting to grab everything that isn't nailed down, or swipe things from their allies.

    A thought occurs to me:

Regarding Changelings, is it possible for a pair of Changelings to fall madly in love with each other and become immortal (at least never having to feed)?

Personally, my answer is "No". Since love (among other emotions) is a food source for them, I find it hard to beleive that any Changeling would willingly make itself a food source for any of its kind and run the risk of being cannibalized.

Thus ends my thought of the day.

I don't think changelings can feed off of each other at all...at least, I don't think they should be able to. It just makes sense to me, I'm sure I could explain my thoughts if I bothered to. :p

My theory is that changelings cannot produce their own emotions. And if they can, it is likley an unconsumable form of emotion. This is because the Changelings are like bugs. And bugs, like all living things, need to consume energy.
In this instance, the energy consumed would happen to be the emotions the hive feeds off of. Some hives may feed on fear. Some love. Etc, etc.
Either way, since like all beings, insects cannot really directly produce their own food, they must of course, go and find sources such as ponies, griffins and any other emotional race. (Not so much griffins in that respect actually :I)
    Thats just my theory anyway.

I had a little idea when talking to Dark just a bit ago...

What if there could be little aesthetic pets as loot? You can carry em 'round with you, they can follow you around, but they don't actually do anything.

    Possible pets would include:
    Changeling larvae
    Breezie-In-A-Bottle
    Woona

    Perhaps even a Huggle.
A Huggle would kinda be like a parasprite combined with a tribble. They're little fuzzy balls that you can stick anywhere on your body, and they cling to you as if they're hugging you.
It would be a blast of fuzzy adorableness :omg:

Ooh, if we even got pets more advanced than that (dogs, cats, etc.), we could even train them to enter combat with us.

Well... that IS a tribble ::S:

Changelings can feed on the emotions of other changelings... but it's not good for them. It would be like just drinking juice, instead of having a balanced diet.

I mean, it can be done... but it's really unhealthy.

Also, I'm thinking that each changeling has a specific emotion that's healthiest for it, like Dark said, but they cannot specifically produce that emotion.

Like my character Blade Hide, when I RP him, he's unable to feel fear. Literally.
