Huh, so that's prolly why they only gave us 13 eps this season, cuz they were putting together a movie. And this also explains the copyrights they acquired for dolls, well played Hasbro. I'm definitely excited for the MLP movie... the spin off, not so much. I'll prolly give it a shot though.
Seriously though...I don't think the movie will be out for a long while, it won't even be in production right now. The crew are working on Season 4 at the moment, and Andrea Libman confirmed there was no movie being made near midway Season 3 in a podcast interview. So this must be a very very new development. 2014/15 I would have thought at the earliest for a proper release date to be announced that it's in production.
Sounds pretty vague. But he did in fact say "movie". Wonder if there will be more information on it soon.
Actually Top-Draw Productions one of the companies that does the animation for the show has had a 1X66 (1 66 minute production) minute MLP project on their slate since last year. So it may not be as far off as you think.
Not a single on of these possibilities I don't like Equestria Girls sounds like it'll be a big hit or huge fail, doesn't sound like there will be any middle ground
Equestria Girls is going to definitely be interesting, for better or for worse. Going out of one's comfort zone is pretty risky.

I'm hyped about the movie, the spin-off series, not so much. When a TV series does a movie, it tends to have an awful record. The Inbetweeners being the only series in recently memory to also have a decent movie to go with it. I feel confident the writers will do a good job with it though. I'll give the spin-off series a chance, who knows, I could be pleasantly surprised. After all I certainly wouldn't have thought a couple of months ago I would be hooked on FiM!
After learning that My Little Pony Friendship is Magic was and still is a good show on July 09, 2011 I promised myself not to judge something before watching it again I do not want to repeat that mistake again so I will watch both things when they come out but I will not judge either one of them or say anything about them before hand.
TV movie is cool. I want a theater movie, though. Imagine how awesome that world be! I'm not sure which would be better: ponies on the big screen, or watching the uncomfortable expressions of parents with little girls sitting next to an entire row full of 20-something guys. Regarding Equestria Girls, I hope they retain the same voice actors. The show might actually be fun! It's not like thousands of bronies haven't created human pony art and fanfics for a couple of years now.

Equestria girls... I'll turn the other way from it.. I like animals better. If anyone needs me after the movie airs, I'll be here pretending that it never happened. What else am I to do? I guess it beats sitting here being upset about it lol I'll just think of it as something like ghosts or bigfoot, some people just don't believe in that stuff, to me equestria girls is like bigfoot to me, except for I actually believe in bigfoot more. (Hey can't hekp it. My state has had more sightings of him than anywhere else.) But seriously, I'm just gonna pretend it doesn't exist.
