I guess both sides are equal, it just depends on your personality. Like when you decide to go to the dark side your automatically a bad person because everyone thinks your going to hurt them. But when your light everyone believes in you but light does have its downfalls. If you don't do somthing that the people want your called selfish and cruel Neutral is both light and dark(Most of us humans are neutral) the people might think your good for saving someone, lets say it like this: Your sister is knocked out cold, while your master is too.(The master of the town) Dark- You save your sister but you only save her so you can rule the town Neutral- You save your sister because she is your blood and someone who isn't your blood doesn't matter to you. Light- You save your sister and promise master you will protect the town So if you were light why would you be light? And if you were darkness why would you be darkness? And if you were neutral why would you be neutral?
I don't believe in things like "light" or "darkness", except in the literal presence in light or a lack thereof. Anyone who seeks to dichotomize the world does so at their own peril; there are no two or three groups that people can be lumped into, and good and evil are relative terms.
I would agree with Dilly Star to a point, but I wouldn't say that good and evil are relative terms per se (ask some cannibals what their views of good and evil are and they'll invite you to dinner to talk about). Although I do get what you're saying, Bena. By light, you'd mean our good side; by neutral, you'd mean our in-between side; and by dark, you'd mean our corrupted side. Alright, well for me... I don't know how to pin it because I don't want to be all "oh well I'm light of course, because [insert reasons why I'm allegedly that awesome]" with what I'd have to say. I guess I'd go with... well, I would try to save as many people as I could, so I guess I'd be light. Great, I just contradicted myself.
Try to save as many people as you could? I propose 2 alternate situations for you. First- You are at war and have intercepted a message from the enemy- a single spot in their defense will be at its weakest in 10 days and they will attack one of your cities in 5 days. What is the most efficient course of action? >Evacuate the people from the city. >Subtly reinforce the city while preparing to attack. >Prepare your forces to attack in ten days and do nothing for the city. Second- Remove the ongoing war from the previous question. Consider enemy states to be weak and remote. With no external thread, your empire stagnates. Your people become complacent and begin to question you. Same scenario as before: you discover an impending attack, but also a weakness that will come after. How do you react? >Do nothing and attack their weak spot later and save more lives. >Stop the attack and appear to be a hero. >Let the attack happen.
Of course there are other options, everyone is entitled to their preferred choices. The light would evacuate to prevent a few lives from dying now and the dark would let it burn to protect the intelligence. This scenario has already taken place, 14 November 1940, and the decision was made to let Coventry burn. You are in Churchill's position to decide to fate of Coventry, what are the other options to end the war and keep a low death toll?
I recently realized the original scenarios were both for Ecco the Dolphin who had aligned himself and were not meant for you, Dilly Star. And while I did try to formulate other events to argue against this, I'm left with nothing. >:L
As a Wiccan, I believe that neither Light nor Dark is better and we are supposed to find a balance between the two. So I guess I'm neutral.
For me it's too hard to say you could say, I'm both Light and Dark but never neutral my reasons are due to the fact I flip on my feelings. There are days where for example, If I was a leader of an Army and i got that intell, I would sit back build my army's strength for the attack when they are at their weakest. Other days i would choose to use all of my men to evac the city to save as many lives as possible. It all depends on how I feel that day.
