Wow... that was.. unpleasant. Let's give credit to the writers for making the best of a bad situation- despite Hasbro's endless efforts to kill the fandom.
Anyway! I'm more or less curious to find out in the next season, what Celestia meant when she said that she had use for Discord's magic. Actually, let me simplify that. I just wanna see Discord again because he's hilarious.
Agreed and I also want to see what Discord is going to do now that he's reformed plus i'd like to see the return of the changelings and Queen Chrysalis in general.
I dunno. She almost struck me as a one trick pony sort of thing. Am I the only one who thought the Changlings looked kind of cute? xD
My daughters are concerned that Twilight will be different now that she's an alicorn. Change and growth are hard! I'm glad the writers are taking the risk though.
True. That's why I'm tired of the writer bashing. Hasbro in their "infinite knowledge" made a decision and painted the writers into a corner. As usual, they came through with what they had. It may have been a little rushed but, like Rarity's hay/drinking straw hat, they made it work.
I'll just go ahead and throw this out there: if the only thing it had really taken to destroy the fandom was giving one of the ponies a pair of wings, then I fully believe it would have deserved to die. I don't. The show was designed to sell toys. Thus, when a new toy comes out, the show changes slightly. Not really the end of the world. Why do you think Rarity had those glimmer wings in "Sonic Rainboom?" Heck, I'm betting even that hot air balloon Twilight has (which she should totally sell now, given... yeah) was added because there was a toy of it. The show's only real reason for existing is to be a gigantic toy commercial. Be glad it's as good as it is. Hardly. For one thing, the songs were quite the opposite of pointless: they advanced the plot. A "pointless" song would be something like Pinkie's Smile Song. Anyway, I would also say the opposite is true regarding feeling rushed and being a musical: this episode wouldn't have worked out as well as it did if it hadn't been a musical. Musicals can cover quite a bit more material in the same amount of time than traditional story-telling. WINGS? ON MY PURPLE UNICORN?! I AM DONE! *Flips over table* I honestly think a lot of the people who have been so disenchanted with this season of the show are honestly just getting over the 'shock of the new' that MLP used to represent. Quite a number of people get swept up in fads, and fads always eventually die. I can't wait for the next season, personally.
It was a roller-coaster for me, lotta ups and downs. I'd see something that'd make me cringe but then it would follow up with something that made me go "aweee" l3 I see that a lot of people are bashing the songs, but I honestly liked them and thought they helped move the story along quickly. Then again, the story moved so quickly that it might have given me whiplash. I really think it would have been better if they were able to do a two-parter but I guess it wasn't in the cards. The whole third season felt rushed anyway to me, so it figures that the finale would shoot by quickly as well. Meh, I still enjoyed the songs anyway. "True True Friend" was very cheesy but I thought it was cheesy in a good way, still very cute. But if I had to say what was cheesy in a bad way... yeah, I think you know what I'm gonna say... "That's because she is a princess" Pinkie Pie's spit-take was exactly how I felt. I mean, even if she fixed the spell and got her friends to turn her into an alicorn, how does that grant a pony instant royal status? (there's only three alicorns on the show and they're all royalty, yet I question whether alicorns are automatically royal just because they are alicorns. It's a question that I won't be able to have answered until we see more alicorns on the show) And then her friends just accept it immediately with no real transitional period. Now I guess that's supposed to send a positive message about acceptance, but it just didn't feel believable to me. Overall, the show had some great moments and I didn't hate it, but the ending was definitely a fizzle for me. I'm praying that they cover the "why" behind her sudden position of power more thoroughly than they did at the end of the finale. I guess I'd give the show 3 stars out of 5. I'm not gonna foam at the mouth over this issue.
This sums up just about every gripe and every praise I have about the episode. Sent from my DROID3 using Tapatalk 2
